I’m looking for a write up or anything really about how to properly swap the 2005-2008 brake booster/master cylinder/brake lines whatever’s needed to the 2009-2014 setup..if it’s possible. I actually had a 2009 booster installed (fit fine, shaft angle was alittle off) but the master cylinder didn’t bolt up. Looking at pics it looks like the 2009-14 cylinder would work but then I read something about brake lines needing to be swapped…?

Ordered new reman from Oriellys, went out in 1 day, so I ordered a used one from eBay that arrived rusted and full of water. Would rather spend the time and money to convert to new parts I guess. Open to suggestions…thanks for any info!

Yeah those look like two totally different parts. I assume the booster is different too since the piston bore on the MC is different size.

What I see from the workshop manual, to use the 2011+ brake booster you must change the MC, reservoir and the vacuum hose connector.
It's a Schroedingers cat situation, open the box to see if it's alive ;)

Has the 2011+ more brake assist?

Yeah I know I’ll have to get the 2009-2014 master cylinder to go with the 2009-2014 brake booster…my concern is will it work? With the 2005-2008 brake boosters being discontinued why am I not seeing more info on the 2009-2014 booster/master cylinder swaps on the 2006-2008 cars?

I guess I’m gonna order the 2009-2014 setup from AM and see what I can get to work

1st one is 2005 - 2008
2nd one is 2009 - 2014
Bolt pattern to master cylinder is different. And possibly the brake line connection spacing as well.

Thanks for posting this..................

This is better explaining to me as to why my car responded so well to the StopTech 07-09 GT500 OEM front brake replacement kit (OEM Brembo clone.......rotors, calipers & pads) I installed a few yrs back.........the OEM 09 Ford GT brake booster\MC design.......is the exact same design combo the 07-09 GT500 is equipped with, thus the system easily assimilated to the Brembo-cloned front caliper design.

Now the last part to look into would be the ABS control module programming to find any more improvements to implement........that is, if it's enough of an upgrade to go after...........my car is mostly cruiser duty.......

FWIW, my read on this is most likely due to the swaps are actually being done.........just most of the folks doing them aren't posting across social media about them..........at face value, this is most likely viewed as routine.

IMHO, the area where any differences in brake feel\operation may manifest will most likely be thru the ABS control module's programming.......how it processes any line pressure changes\inputs that may be different between a 05-08 setup vs a 09-14 setup, since the actual caliper\rotor design is identical across the 05-10 GT S197's........from this POV, I can't see any reason why an OEM Ford S197 GT 09-14 BB\MC setup wouldn't work in place of an OEM Ford S197 GT 05-08 BB\MC setup.........

My 2 cents....................let us know how it comes out.

The brake lines from the master cylinder to the ABS block may have to changed? Since they are different from 05-08 to 09-14? Just looking at the MC pics...
I wonder if the ABS block is different where they land there?

Because the bolt pattern is different 05-08 vs 09-14 ..
the booster uses a different bolt pattern too.. so far so good . I am wondering if the booster uses the same bolt pattern in all the years (05-14 ) were the booster is boltef to the brake / clutch assy ( firewall )

If not .. you may need a different 09-14. brake / clutch assy ..

The brake booster and master cylinder are certainly different on a 2008 than an 11-14. I encountered this during my coyote swap. The bracket to relocate the coolant reservoir for the PMAS cobra jet intake will not fit my 2008. The master cylinder must be larger on my 2008 as well since the coolant reservoir would not physically fit in the space. I was going to just modify the bracket, but the limited space caused me to ditch the PMAS all together and go JLT.

Also, when fitting an air box for the 11-14 I had to trim around the ABS and the air conditioning lines to make the box fit. I would assume the orientation of the ABS block is different based on this.

when i did my cams and put on a gt500 booster , i ran into this problem..
..

the two brake fluid lines comming in thew master cylinder are different sizes from the other model ,, so i had to send it back to lmr and get the other one,,

so not only is the mounting different, but the brake line end size was too on the one

I would like to have more brake assist. But it looks like the 11+ has not.

PS, that there is no bleeder valve at the clutch is totally stupid. The black fluid contaminates the new changed in the reservoir.

… just thinking about the bleed problem of the throw out cylinder

I wonder if it is possible to drill / thead the cylinder upwards ( on top ) and install a flexibel bleed line .
The system from Mc Loed or FR is ok .. but it does not help to bleed the cylinder in the right way.

The flex line could be routed out of the bellhouse .. just need to drill a small hole . And of course the „ bleed line „ needs a plug at the end .
