The dealer doesn't have to give you ANYTHING to drive. Not sure how it's a "slap in the face" that they gave you a free ride...?

whats a slap in the face they gave you a fucking brand new truck to drive!! you realize that is a courtesy??
You guys took this the wrong way, I was meaning that it sucks that my new car is having problems. Trust me, I know shit happens and its not a big deal in the long run. I want to drive my 5.0; surely you can understand that coming from my side. As of now I am paying my first month payment for a car that I got to drive less than a week.

I stated I do like the truck and they were going to pay for my rental regardless, though let me take a truck off of the lot instead of dealing with an outside agency such as enterprise and so on. I have great relations with this dealer and I know they are going to do anything and everything possible to leave me as a satisfied customer.

does this mean there are a batch of rear ends that are known to be "bad"? who supplied the rear ends for the 2011 GT?
I'm unsure if thats going to be the cause. I wonder if most of these failures are related to the 3.73 gear option. My car was built 9/02 according to the sticker so its pretty new.

i am wondering the same thing. Mine is 3.73 too as the only option and the second time i went to the track i came home with a whining noise from the rear end at 70 mph and now is at 50 mph and possible clunking noise too.

Got the car back today and everything seems to be fine. Knocking on wood that it doesn't occur again

I've had to deal with replacing whole units instead of just the part of failure, and most of the time, from what I have dealt with is, engineers want to take it apart and verify the cause of the failure and make improvements and/or see where it was assembled wrong from the beginning, and hopefully make changes to keep it from being a repeat thing. When the vehicle has less than 3k miles they do this alot. They don't even want you to disassemble the component, or send an inspector out there with you.

I'm pretty sure the rear end on the Mustang hasn't appreciably changed since like, 1965. So any rear end problems would either be manufacturing flukes or supplier quality problems. I highly doubt it's an engineering issue; the folks that engineered it are probably all dead by now.

Yeah in this case it was a bearing failure so I believe they are putting too much pressure on it.

Over 1275 miles (so a few hundred miles since getting back) and no problems. Will likely be hitting the track with it next weekend so hope to keep up the good luck haha

and of course..the noise has returned. I have the car scheduled to go in on Wednesday (my day off) to see what is going on this time. It sounds exactly the same and has been doing it for a bit but has finally began to get a bit louder.

The car now has 7600 miles on it and I hope they aren't going to give me problems about my limited mods to the car. I am going to put the stock control arms on since they are an easy swap but will be leaving the springs on.

As you know every dealer is different. Mine hasn't given me issue with my mods so far. If tranny or something goes out again they might start to question it for me.

I am wondering if there any running changes for 2012, the 2011's are starting to look really attractive price wise however.

I am only taking off the control arms for the time being and leaving the other mods such as the intake, programmer, springs, and the rest installed. I don't think that I will have problems with the dealer, as they have been great towards me so far and I am taking my car quite a ways to their dealer instead of the local one. It's where I purchased the car from so I hope they still treat me like they did the first 1k miles haha.

This will be my second time for the same issue so hopefully we can get it fixed the correct way rather than just replacing one bearing as there is obviously a reason that its eating itself up.

Car has been at the dealer since Wednesday and I haven't heard anything yet. They loaned me a Ford Fusion haha

I hope to hear good news tomorrow.
