Noticed a small puddle underneath the car and I figured, "Ah, its probably just from running the A/C." Got under it to look at it and noticed an oil like substance all over the passenger side shielding. So I went ahead and put it up on ramps to take a further look. Started on the driver side to see if the oil filter came loose and everything was dry. Checked where the tranny meets the motor and nothing. Made my way over to the passenger side where it was all wet and gave it a good look over.

This is what I found:

Looks like its coming from where the transmission cooler lines meet.

Did a search but can only come up with the bell housing/main seal leak TSB. Anyone else seen this? LMK your thoughts.

Yea its going straight to the dealer tomorrow morning. They're always busy on Saturdays but maybe they'll be able to at least look at it.

^^Ehhh... possible but I wouldn't think so. But maybe.

Be prepared to leave it at the dealer or schedule an appointment to drop it off because I am sure they will have to order the lines for you.

Mine was shifting slowly and I mentioned it on a service visit. They found a leaking seal.

I work at a local dealer and we have a lot of 6r80s come in with leaking pump seal

I've done a few pump replacements, there's a tsb on tho's pumps. Built between April/11 to June/11. It's all on the F150 5.0, and Ecoboost....well the ones i've seen. Then there's the bulk connector too, tsb also.

Update: Just got back from the dealer. They looked at it and said that all 4 trans lines are leaking. The went ahead and ordered all new lines and they should be here Monday or Tuesday. They went ahead and gave me the keys back and told me I should be ok driving it around. Everything will be covered under warranty. Not that I feel comfortable driving it but hey its warrantied so if anything happens I'm covered. I don't like driving around leaking fluid everywhere but just gives me more of a reason to get under there and clean everything real good once its all fixed. I've been meaning too.

Completely forgot about updating this.

6-8-12: The lines got here Friday. The tech they wanted working on this wouldn't be available till Monday. Which is fine, I understand wanting a more experienced tech to work on the car. Fine by me.

6-11-12: Dropped it off first thing Monday morning. Told me should only be a few hours. Called around 3:30PM for an update. Said they just got the old lines off. Having a hard time. Told me they would call back at 4:30PM to let me know if it would be ready or another day needed. Received call around 4:30PM stating that it was more work involved then originally thought and it should be done early Tuesday.

6-12-12: 11:56am Still no call...

So with all of this I'm pretty cool right now. I mean I'd rather honesty then anything else. I appreciate the fact that they're letting me know, "Hey man, its taking longer than expected. First time we've had to do something like this on these cars/transmissions." Instead of some other BS you know? Honesty goes a long way with me. Of course I'm not gonna lie, it does make me question the tech and their skills some. In the back of my mind I'm thinking, "Shit. If it takes them this long just to replace the transmission lines I can only imagine if it was something else a little more complex."

Of course I'm no mechanic but it doesn't look "too" bad eh...??

Got the car back yesterday after work. When I got it home I decided to get up under the car and have a looksie. Got to admit they did a pretty good job with cleaning up under there for the most part. Of course as anal as I am about cleaning my car there was still a good bit of cleaning to do and some of it is hard to reach too.

Will be honest though, I'm kind of hesitant. I noticed that there was some fluid still around the lines as well as the fact that the lines didn't even look new. I'm trying to just stay positive and think that the lines are just wet because the tech got some on em when he was refilling the fluid and initially installing the lines. Went ahead and just cleaned up everything real good and will check on it over the next few days.

Thats what I would have done. Your under warranty anyway.....if there is fluid again, just take it back in.

Yep that's the plan if that ends up being the case. Which I'm really REALLY hoping it isn't... I'll know pretty quickly/soon enough though as good I cleaned everything. Made sure everything that was even close to those lines were dry.
