Hey guys, new here to the forum, and to Mustangs, and I have a few questions I hope you can help with. I have a base '13 GT that I have built for track days. So far, no issues what so ever after several weekends at the track. However, I was at the track last weekend, and during my second to last session I started losing power and the check engine light flashed for a minute. I took it easy for a half of lap, and full power came back. I finished my session and ended up running my fastest laps of the weekend. After, I played it safe and took it home without running my last session. Has anyone had a limp mode issue with theirs, and do you know what caused it?
This scenario brings up the remainder of my questions.
1) I have purchased a Canton RR oil pan. Do any of you have any experience installing one? Are there any issues I will encounter that I should be aware of?
2) Car is a stripped down GT with only the necessities for track use, which means I have squat for gauges. I have no idea what the cause of the check engine light was, so I would like to get something that I can plug into the OBDII port, as the premiums come with all sorts of information they can toggle through, so mine should be able to spit this out to some sort of gauge/screen. Is there anything available that any of you have any experience with? Windshield or pod mount that can shows pressures and temps.
3) Does anyone have experience with the installation of the MMR cooling bybass kit?

I greatly appreciate any and all help guys, thank you.

cheapest way to check codes or monitor engine parameters that I have found is through using my android phone with a bluetooth OBDII dongle off ebay for $20 and get the "Torque Pro" app

Track Days as in Autocross type events? I know a bunch of Boss owners have their CELs go off when they race and the cars go into limp mode due to overheating issues.

I should have clarified, my apologies. Not necessarilly looking for a code reader. I am looking for something I can plug in to get pressures/temps/etc. The premiums have all of that so I would assume I have access to it as well, but I just need something to access it. I have seen the Aeroforce, but is this just about the only option I have?

Ford20, what are the CELs you are referencing? I am on the track, so running long sessions (20-25 min), versus the 45 sec autocross runs.

Thanks for the quick replys.

If you have a SCT handheld tuning device it can read DTC's.

Changing the oil pan is easy, removing it is the fun part; you will have to loosen/remove the motor mount bolts and jack the engine up to ensure enough clearance and even then it comes real close to the tranny. Most of the time when jacking the engine up people place a block of wood under the oil pan but since you will be removing the oil pan you should place the wood under the crank pulley and carefully jack the engine up that way.

Us Boss owners have had this problem since day one. Run the car hard for prolonged periods of time and it will throw a CEL - and go into limp mode. There are several TSB's out there made to fix this problem on the Boss...I can only assume the same can be said for the base GT. If your car is stock (no flash tune), I would get a hold of a local Ford dealer and have them look at it.

If you do the above be sure to leave out the part where you were tracking the car. The tend to try and void warranties due to this.

Ewwww canton racing....they just steal moroso's designs.....probably because the owner of Canton got told one day to stop coming to work when he was at Moroso...fun side note, most employees leave canton to go to moroso, because the owners a prick

Wait a minute, jack on the crankshaft? Oh hell no.. really bad idea. Support the engine from above.

If you are looking for a gauge. Get a aeroforce scan gauge and it will do what ever you are looking for.

And the average guy in his garage would do this how? A piece of wood on the crank pulley will work for the avg guy.

again, an OBDII Dongle off ebay for $20 mated to the android app "torque" and you can real time monitor everything, as well as data log straight from your phone, if your on a budget. if you could care less about the budget those aeroforce gauges sure are nice

Were you losing traction when the car went crazy? Sometimes when the nannies get overwhelmed it will do this and throw a wrench light for a bit.

Traction control had kicked in a few times, but I was on race tires so it was staying pretty glued down.
I did take it to a dealer this morning and no codes were thrown. Was mentioned that possible overheating caused the limp mode to engage. All parameters were in line.
