I actually like the looks of it but like others have stated I will have to see the actual car(as well as the interior) before I can draw a final conclusion. And I am with tjm73, if Ford can offer the same performance and fuel economy(or better) with a smaller engine they will do it.

It's still just another WAG. I'll wait to see what Ford throws on a show stand in the future--not that I'm really in the market with a 3-month-old car right now.

i was all excited with the first rendering..after seeing the last pic i am now flaccid :(. the first rendering had meaner lines, this one looks like a mix between the fusion and the taurus..more sedan than pony car. oh well, look like 2013 gt500 it is!

At first I was like hey douche bags that's a 2013 car. Then I noticed the inner frame/fender stamping and the changed airbox/inet setup.

With all of those wires it appears that they are testing something with the engine judging by all of the wires surrounding it they could be sensors of some sort.

It is hard to tell from that picture angle but the strut mounts lost a stud. Going from a 4 stud strut mount to a 3 stud is pretty damn interesting considering how easy camber plates are to adjust with 4 studs. Maybe, and this is a pipe dream, the front suspension is getting a hefty overhaul like maybe a short-long arm setup. That would explain the noticeably tighter engine bay, set back engine and new mounts at the towers. God I hope so! Everyone keeps talking about the rear suspension and Ford pulls a fast one and ditches the shity strut configuration for a real suspension up front!

That motor looks set back a little. Where is the battery hiding?
I believe its under the cover circled in red.

Is that a fourth bolt circled in green?

That bolt circled in green looks like the strut (or shock if Whiskey is right) mount.

Lots of interesting little changes. Looks like the new engine bay is going to be pretty tight for the 5.0

If it was a 3 stud strut mount I think the studs would be set out a bit further. Also it looks like under the cover there is a 4th stud.

Then why are the studs rotated about 45º?? That makes NO sense. Currently the studs face fore/aft, these are rotated. I really do think that this is either a 3 stud strut mount or a shock mount. I hope it's the later as a Short/Long arm front suspension in combination with a good independent rear will make for an absolute destroyer of apexes!

The good news is that if the IRS is stolen from the Fusion, that the front suspension ISN'T. The 2013 Fusion uses a 4 stud strut mount.

Indeed. Looking at the full resolution photos on Motortrend, you can clearly see there ISN'T a 4th stud on the right side and I'm sure the left side under the cowl is something but it isn't a stud. I'm really curious as to what the front suspension looks like. I'm pretty sure it's still a strut suspension but it's just dang interesting to lose a stud even if it isn't needed especially when it makes camber adjustment much more difficult on aftermarket camber plates and I KNOW how much Ford relies on the aftermarket to allow full alignment adjustment. The shots from the rear facing forward show a vastly different K-member too which is interesting.

Sweet, looks like the F350 front end made it down to the mustang. Maybe one of these years we'll get a Mustang that's at least a little aerodynamic.
