Pet peeve of mine. It drives me nuts when people use the word test incorrectly (and it's a LOT). Apparently a lot of the population missed 7th grade science class. Jalopnik guy says he is there to test the car. That is incorrect. He is there to drive the car. Big difference.

Yeah, he was driving fast, but not tire squealing fast (ex: Turn 6 most people don't lift that much, if any, through it). At least he didn't pit it into the wall like the guy with the Camaro.

It's not about "fast". It's about the word test. Of course you would have to be going fast to get any useful test data.

Even if he broke the lap record during his drive there, it wouldn't have been a test.

A moto-journalist could test one. There needs to be a procedure and calibrated equipment used in a repeatable environment though. Otherwise you're just driving.

I take anything on the internet as a backyard expert that reads and repeats vs retains and understands until they prove otherwise. Like the tech guys here. There are some who copy and paste marketing and tech info, who I ignore... and some that are able to quantify their knowledge on the fly.

Kinda. Even when you "test drive" a car in sales, they call it the "demo" part of the sales process. It is more of a demonstration then a "test" in the sense that DoB puts it.

Now if you get tested for diseases, and really ride her hard, then it is probably a test. If you are just taking it easy to see how things go, then yes, it is a demo.

It's amazing that something has all the worlds knowledge "in" it (the internet). Yet it's responsible for more dumb-assery than anything in history.
