Hi everyone,
First I wanted to introduce myself, I understand that is what introduction is for, but from reading around on the forum I thought this should be in chit chat since I’m jumping right into the swap, so I’ll keep it as short as possible.
My name is Brett and I own a 2001 Mustang Gt. I have added some cosmetic things like cobra bumper, side skirts, and trunk lid. I used to have the hood, but I sold it to buy a cowl. I’m good friends with 702GT(Chris) on this forum, and him and I will be tackling this swap. Thanks to him, he has been helping buy most of my parts on this forum to keep our project moving.
Before the car went down I had nearly every bolt you could do to a 2v. lol Extras I had were comp cams, edlebrock intake manifold, 6061 plenum, 100 wet shot. The car made 290hp/270tq N/A and 385hp/455tq. In Vegas I ran 13.00 N/A. The car weighed 3,290lbs with me in it. I have a tubular k, built 3650, built rearend, control arms and torque box reinforcements, aluminum driveshaft. Unfortunately due to a HUGE mistake the motor let go on the dyno. You guys will see what happens if a car is started on a 100 shot of nitrous. LOL
Chris and I sat around many nights discussing exactly what I wanted to do with my car, everywhere from blown 2v, N/A 2v with nitrous, 4v swap. Honestly I never even thought 3v until he said it. My goal was to have something different, and as soon as he said that the researching began. We found Logan Motorsports are the ones who do all the sn95 3v swaps. We gave them a call and talked to Keith Logan. He has been more than helpful and answers all our tech questions or concerns. Great company to deal with!
Now for the motor. We picked a stock longblock from blown88coupe on this forum. Since stock isn’t good enough for us (lol) we are adding comp cams, long tubes, 03/04 cobra throttle body, CAI, and HSW fogger plate. I will not be running VCT right now so the cams will be locked out. I’m really curious to see what this car will make since it’s not a common swap like the 2v to 4v.
We were hoping to get the motor in this weekend, but unfortunately the lock outs wont be here until Monday. So next week I will have pics of the actual install. For now I have a parts pile going.
Hope you guys will enjoy watching this swap considering I was hesitant on putting it on here since I’m technically not an s197. But I figure we are all Mustang guys sharing the same interest so why not!? Plus I’m sure I will have questions about the motor every now and then.
As you guys can tell we have had this car completely gutted. Believe it or not we have made a lot progress putting the car back together. lol It'll look like a 'normal' car again soon!
