Unfortunately, most people don't get this. Most, if not all, manufacturers choose to design their vehicles in a way that supports their bottom line rather then cater to a sub-set of the market who chooses to modify their cars. In a perfect world, all engines would be built with 6 bolt mains, steel cranks, forged pistons and rods etc etc.

Last two Mustangs I have bought have had forged guts. You got to pay to play

Nevertheless, the design of those motors had nothing to do with Ford's willingness to pander to the aftermarket. They were designed as a necessity to maintain logevity as a stock long block. :thumb:

what you mean in the morning?

This is critical information and everyone MUST continue to post irrelevant and useless information throughout the night until we establish a completely irrelevant argument based on nothing but Friends-from-MM and quotations from wikipedia to add nothing but nonsense to the already off topic thread.

Oh, or the OP could have started the thread with some facts, but that would be way too much to ask for right?

Sucha bastard. Heh.

Another statement from a poster on AFM NOT Popeye

engineer actually was telling me about a 3 degree threshold that is in the factory tune, something about the intake runner design, he did say not a flaw though, that #8 is always hotter and that tuners didn't compensate.

So is the Boss intake a possible fix?

This dude is on every forum spewing #8 bullshit with sometimes multiple threads per day. Just put him on your ignore list. We appreciate you posting the info you were given.

Edit: For clarification I'm talking about RedCandyAss5.0

Wow. A guy passes some seemingly reputable information and then confirms his source, but someone else calls Ford and Ford denies it. Never heard of Ford denying a problem before. OH YEAH! They did it the first two years of the original "oh no" motor: the 6.0h no diesel. And later the 6.4. They denied ever having trucks in the shops for injectors, head gaskets and egr's until enough people personally knew people with them. By then, it was too late for some of us who used it for work and put 100,000 miles on it in 3 years or less. Ford gave us all the big F*** you. Yea, all 8 injectors replaced three times, two head gaskets and 2 egr coolers and a transmission range sensor for this guy

Ford service rep/manager who doesn't want this problem getting out denies the claim so he's gotta be telling the truth. Or maybe he just doesn't wanna be the guy to drop the dime. It carries as much weight with me as the tuner claiming he has an inside scoop.

But all the 'yote owners here wanna believe the prettier option and dismiss the other claim because it gives them a piece of mind when they sleep at night.

Bottom line is: im not saying i believe the #8 rumors and im not saying i don't. A first gen motor is going to have problems. Happens almost everytime. Until someone drives down there and see them pulling the motors themselves...then I'll believe

Danny may have been the GM of the dealership. ?

You would think that if it were truly an issue from the factory, that there would be A LOT of issues, like 50% of the owners on the forums. I am only saying this, because 50% or more 2011 owners have tunes on the forums, and supposedly a tuner is not "correcting" the factory "mistake"

Hopefully it is just "one of those things"

We sprayed our job one automatic with a stock tune on it (150 shot) when the car was bone stock, without issue.

It was basically a torture test. We received the car, threw a 150 shot on it and beat on it repeatedly...

When the 6.0L's started having problems (right from the start), every Ford dealer in the country had 4 of them in their shop. It wasn't a secret. The forums were going crazy with failed stock 6.0's. There wasn't a question in anyone's minds that they were crap. Same with the 6.4's. That video of a brand new 6.4L shooting flames out the exhaust hit Youtube and there was no denying there was a problem.

In this case, the guy I spoke to was more than willing to give me whatever information he had. Why would he have admitted to one, but not the others? We even chatted about all the clutch problems we've seen in the 5.0L's. He said he can't believe they've had so many clutch problems on brand new cars, and actually said Ford needs to pull their head out of their ass when it comes to testing these things so the clutches will hold. You'd think through all that from one Ford dealer employee to another, he would have mentioned anything about multiple failed 5.0's. Yet nothing.

You have the freedom to believe whatever you choose. The fact is, we have yet to see even one confirmed bone stock #8 failure. Yet we've seen numerous failures on tuned cars. Is that pure coincidence? Is it just coincidence that not one of the supposed failed stock 5.0 owners aren't on the forums anywhere? Why doesn't anyone here have a friend of a friend who's had one fail? 3 in one dealership? Maybe there's a gas station around the corner who provided bad fuel. Because if there are 3 in one dealer, there'd be thousands across the country. The fact is, there isn't. I don't know what other convincing proof you need, but it just sounds like you're ignoring the actual facts and holding your breath to cry foul when one does show up.

I agree. Performance oriented people, like those on this forum, will push their cars to the limits, even if they're all stock. So you'd think if there really were a problem, someone right here would have found it. We've seen it with the clutches, the rearends, and various other parts. Nobody's trying to keep that all hush hush.

I confirmed this morning; we have had ZERO 5.0 piston failures except my salesman that beat on his blown car when he knew it was WAY lean.

Clutches, different story, and we have an MT82 on the table right now being torn down because 5th gear won't engage.

You answered your own question when u said why hasn't a STOCK 5.0 owner on these forums come out with it and then in the following statement you said that most the people on these forums are performance oriented. I'd be willing to bet a much higher percentage of GT owners never touch their engine or don't know about tuning their car for more power, nor do they care. Especially since these cars are brand new engines and most performance guys sit back and let the kinks work out.

That being said IF there is a problem with #8, I bet we won't hear about most of them because it will be your average everyday buyer who wont even know what's wrong. And all you'll hear is that a 5.0 had a problem and warranty fixed it.

OH REALLY? then why did i watch mark fields BRAGGING about how the mustang is the most modded vehicle in the world? he is proud of modding mustangs. now he has created one that blows up if 20-40rwhp is added.

Bullshit. they didnt know this would happen when they made it with inferior parts.

they knew it would be modded, they counted on it. and as a matter of fact they have a crate motor/controller just for modding and it will blow up too.

they also had their own modding package from FRPP that will blow it up too.

keep your heads in teh sand. it will just go away.

I agree the mustang does have modification overlays to it. However, it's not what the designers focus on. Even though it's the most heavily modified American car, it still is a small percentage of owners that modify anywhere beyond intake and exhaust

The average Joe isn't going to push their car to the point of having a piston problem. If it's not happening to those who do push their cars, it's not going to happen to those who don't. You're right though, the majority of GT owners leave their cars stock and just drive them. Those are the owners we're simply not seeing coming in to dealerships with problems. Spend 9 hours a day everyday at a Ford dealership like I do and you'll start to get a clear idea of what sort of problems there are or aren't.
