I have a friend who recently got the #8.

He owns a 2011 5.0 and took delivery on it last July (not sure build date but that can give you an idea). He has roughly 5000 miles on the car right now and has not had a problem with it to my understanding since this happened. He knew something was wrong with the car when he would get on it and after he let off I believe it would start smoking from under the bay. Took it to Ford and sure enough it was the #8 problem.

Now, his car up until I'd say 1-2 months ago had a JLT CAI and a tune from Evolution Performance. About 3 months ago he was at Ford Nationals in Carlisle and purchased a set of long tube headers and o/r x from the ARH booth and walked directly over to the Evolution booth. He spoke with the owner of Evolution (forgot his name) and told him his mods, and asked if he was going to need another tune with the addition of the long tubes. He told him no multiple times. I myself watched and helped him install the long tubes on his car. Shortly after that (week to two weeks), he started seeing smoke and there was the problem.

He's trying right now to get a hold of Ford to see if something can be done about this.

Has anyone else had a problem with an Evolution tune? Has anyone on here gotten denied getting this problem fixed, and has anyone gotten it fixed? (Sorry coming in late to the thread don't really want to sift through all these pages and others on numerous other forums).

Wow...........this sucks! Hope the best for your friend!

Well I've had 2 - 6.0s myself with out a minutes problem. The first was an 03 4x2 F250, I used it after katrina in NO for Disaster Relief. Ran if 7 days a week, 14-18 hrs a day and pulled loads not meant for F350. Ran the hell out of it, and change oil 7500 mile intervals. Delo 400 motor oil. Great truck, sold it to a friend of mine is still driving as a DD today. About 350k miles and still going strong. I do believe he put a set of inj. in about 6 mos. ago. The other Fx4 was on 07, didn't keep it but a year but no problems, worked the shit out of it, did the mainenance. Again Delo 400 motor oil. Most of the haulers in this area with Fords hate em though, say they have trouble. I guess ya gotta get Wednesday built one to get a good one. LOL

I used mine for Wilma in South Florida. Ran a twin 10k Dexter oil bath axled 24yd dump trailer. Then used it everyday to tow a bobcat or a maintenance trailer. Then I went to do Ike work in Galveston and then baton rouge from Florida. Made it through all of that without a problem thank God. I'm not saying I didn't beat the hell out of it, but its a heavy duty diesel truck...its made for it.

I did pull roofing tiles one day that was so heavy, it would blow out a plug in my rear tire every 3 miles. I had to stop, replug, and refill with air just to make it to the dump. I had to use 4-low with locked hubs to make it up the dirt road to the top of the landfill. It weighed in truck/trailer/load at 46,500lbs on their scale. And its a single rear wheel F-250 :)

Atleast there is credible information about the 6.0 instead of a bunch of bullshit just being thrown out there on the 5.0.

Guaranteed zero #8 problems with those. I'll buy you a space shuttle if there is.

You can probably pick one of those up pretty cheap about now. lol

I've never had any of the trouble every body talks about on my 05 either. Its a 09/04 build if I remember right. I've run it some but never just thrashed ot like "Undisputed" lol. So maybe thats why its served me well! Of course its not a DD and has low miles but still.
