I have a question, for the aluminum shortblocks like livernois and jdm that claim to support 1000hp, why would one want to go with the iron block? I thought the stroker put more load on the piston walls, but JimJrIII said it wasn't enough to amount to much. Anyone have a better answer? I don't know enough about these builds to see why one would want to go iron.

Someone made a comment about detonation earlier, I don't see this block standing a whole lot of detonation either. If you have it, there doesn't seem like a lot that will stay together. Just wondering. It does look like a sweet build for sure and I can't wait for the results.

Also how much weight is gained when going with the iron over the Al?

That intake is pretty sweet looking! Is that in the black powder coating?

For a N/A application I would assume that the bigger cubes would net you more HP in the end but than again the weight difference would be interesting to know. If you are boosted I don't think the matter would matter much since you could always turn up the boost to overcome the difference.

Thats what I was thinking ford20. can someone answer my question?

The reason this is an iron block is becasue its a big bore so hes adding an extra 20 or so cubic inches.

The big Bore aluminum block is around $5000 if its even still being produced. so not many guys want to shell out the extra cash to go the route.

Now alot of engine builders belive that you will make more power with an iron block. its more ridged so you dont get as much flex and everything turns true. Even we run a Dart Iron Eagle Race block in our push rod factory stock engine. It will make more power then a stock block everyday of the week. We dont "need" a dart block for a 375 hp engine, but we have one.

Not to metion the Iron blocks are more available.

The weight diffrence is about 60 lbs if i remember right.

So are we gonna do this? Replying here because you either aren't getting my PMs or aren't replying to my PMs.
