seems like a better option than building up a n/a 3v motor. i think i see one of these in my future. i wonder if existing headers or exhaust manifolds will work with this?

true enough...but since the car was paid for long ago and i'll have time to save up some cash, it might be a worthwhile build, especially since i don't particularly like the new body style. and i wouldn't have to switch out all the suspension/drive train/k member/control arms/d specs and evervything else i have to another car.

or maybe i'll buy one of those 6k 323 cu in shortblocks from SD :)

After it's all said and done your better of building the 4.6L, or just replacing it. A 322ci Big Bore sounds more appetizing to me.

Agreed, especially because of all the other complications that come along with the swap. The electric steering is definitely something I hadn't thought of.

What would be the 3v build that would equal or possibly better the N/A performance of the 5.0 Crate motor and then be ready for FI to really crank up some power the next season?

big bore short block (323 maybe?)
ported heads
127300 cams or ?

Big bore/stock stroke with ported heads and either 127300 or 127400. Or custom grinds. C&L intake and FRPP throttle body.

There may not be a 3V build that can compare to the NA power that the 5.0 offers. However, what's the extra NA power worth to you? If you're intending on swapping the 3V for a 5.0, it ought to be worth a whole lot.
I'm not dogging the Coyote at all, by the way. It's a hell of a motor. But I can't imagine how it would be cost effective to swap it into an 05-10, given all the other modifications that would be necessary, when with a stout blower and some decent internals, the 3V holds its own against anything.

I'm saying the 5.0 is not worth the swap into 05-09. (So we agree!) I'm thinking for about the same $ you could have a comparable performance N/A 3v that could stand up to a WHOLE lot more power for later down the road.

Since I never had any intention of building up my original motor, getting this or something else is the same in that aspect, so for me, I think this is great.

As for the power steering, given that this is mentioned as a refit for street rods, etc, clearly conventional power steering could be fit. Elsewhere I read the PS part(s) would be 500$.

And for those who say, "All that money for 110 hp", the aftermarket for this is in its infancy, but I think we can see that the potential for this has much more headroom than what can be obtained on a 4.6. This engine, in my view, renders the 4.6 obsolete.

No one pays MSRP for Ford Racing Parts anyway.

Yes, a lot of money when you put all the necesary things to do the swap but there is always more ways to do it like buying a crash car for the pcm, power assisted stering etc... then buy a build 5.0 from the vendors forged internals. And later i am sure will be build up transmissions and the clutch will be a most anyway. A couple of the fast 5.0 here are already needing high performance clutch so you have to spend money on that anyway.

i think that if planed good it can be done without spending way too much and of course it will be expensive but provably better technology.
