Mysteriously difficult part to find?

Hello all,

Please move if not allowed here; I tried to post under WTB but I don't have enough posts yet.

I'm trying to find two parts that seem to just not exist in online retail stores. When I bought my '08 GT, it came with a Hurst shifter kit already installed and the rubber shifter dust boot was missing, allowing lots of noise and hot exhaust air to shoot up into the cabin (see first pic, the leather top boot helps a bit but not enough). The Hurst kit is well-worn and I'm planning to swap to an MGW kit soon, and with this process I'd like to restore the sound and air insulation from the body tunnel. However, after an embarrasingly long time parts hunting, I simply cannot find a replacement dust boot. Does anyone here know where I can get a replacement boot (see pic with arrow for reference)? Outside of crawling junkyards, I'm stumped.

Additionally, I believe the '08 and up models came with extra insulation padding around the shifter assembly, which is also missing from my car. I could probably fab up some replacement insultation but would prefer to use the OE option, if anyone knows where that could be found as well?

I love the rumble of the 4.6 and want to cut out all that transmission and road noise shooting up through the gap for maximum enjoyment of that sweet exhaust note.

If anyone here has either of these items and are looking to sell, please shoot me a PM.

Thanks everyone. :)

I thought so too originally, but across the multiple short shifter installation/review guides I watched, it was mentioned multiple times that the boot is a stock component to be retained after swapping from the stock shifter. No mention of the boot in Ford's OE catalogs that I've seen either, can only find the shift plate for auto transmission. Confusing stuff o_O

Yep, that rubber boot is the OEM boot. Might have to source one from the junkyard or a donor manual car.

The '07 did not have any noise reducing foam, but you can get some aftermarket Dynamat pads which also is what is given in aftermarket shifters (MGW).
