This is sort of a long explination, but bare with me...
We started with it because we wanted to see if it could correct for the change in air conditions as the car went down track. I ran 7.14 with EFI at 2700 lbs Naturally Aspirated on 10.5W tires.... The thing was that when I manually mapped out the fuel map it would run great, but when I would allow it to read the O2's and correct itself, it wasn't fast enough. We would lean out and fatten up real bad on each gear change. I played with this for more than a year, and finally put the carbs on and picked up 40+ hp on the dyno.
EFI can work, but it is a little ways yet from being perfect on N/A or Nitrous combos. Granted some are trying it and having a little success here and there, but high compression engines that are shifting 4 times going down the track don't seem to like it too much yet. As the processors get quicker, it will get better.
I am 27 years old, but honestly I like driving a carb setup even on the street a lot more. I like the response and the feel. I like how simple they are.... however I tune EFI and turbo stuff some too! LOL! Just because what I like is carbs, doesn't mean that EFI isn't good too.
