Well, then do it in 1st, but roll out of the burnout on the throttle and let out of it. I'm sure you know what you are doing and get the jest of what I'm trying to convey. I'd let the trans shift itself down the track.
Fitst (1)- Other than the fact that I wouldn't want to use additional pump capacity to supply a static band that I don't need; I don't see any issue other than it requires the trans to simultaneously perform more functions and couples the driveline. The 1-2 shift if left in drive could possibly damage the transmission, not to mention (see page 2) the fact that most N/A cars can't power stickies in a 2nd gear burnout.

/\another thing too that i see alot of people doing is putting it in first bring the rpms up to about 5k and then shift to second and do the burnout in second.i try that once but i fealt like if im killing the tranny with that shift at high rpms.
