Normally fill my car with 6 quarts and half way through my next oil change I dump out my catch can with about 1/4-1/2 quart in it. Funny thing is now with 6 quarts I'm getting a very loud clack under low rpm from the PS head. What's even more strange is 1 extra quart totaling 7 and it's gone??? I'm figuring a loud phaser or something but Im not getting any codes. I don't understand why alittle extra oil made it go away tho. The PS also ticks loudly after engine is shut down till it cools. Any idea guys b4 I pull the valve cover?

1/2 quart in your catch can!? How damn big is it. lol

Too much oil is not a good thing it needs to go somewhere, sounds like the extra oil oil is making its way to the catch...

I try to also keep my oil to half or less on the dipstick, and i run dual vlave cover bretahers and the oil fill breather and to loose oil slowly.

The engine will start makin noise from low oil, but i mean were talking 4 quarts or under.

What weight oil are you using? I had some noise after the engine build, switched to 5w30 and the clacking/ticking noise went away. (it did it when the engine was cold mostly)
