What he said. ^

I'm told a creative tuner can make the OBD scanner think there are still cats there and fool the test, but I haven't found anybody willing to do that because of legal issues. Doesn't help that my go-to tuner (JPC) is also located here in Marxland.

If they won't set the ecu to force readiness, then space the rear sensors with some minicats.

I've heard of using the anti-fouler things to space out the rear O2 sensors, but I've also seen it's a lot of trial and error. And I've really been considering LT headers for the sound.

I have 2 of those and it passed without any tune changes. I have had tune changes since, and there was no change in how the ODB scanner saw my car.

Hell, the OP has a couple pages of good advice but he hasn't even bothered checking in since the day he posted this thread. Another example of why I try not to reply to newbies very often.

So these little gizmos have miniature catalytic converters built into them? Genius.

Kinda like when your best friend asks for your advice on something, and you give said advice that most would agree is the universally right thing to do, but they immediately do the opposite and order Pizza Hut instead. :okay2:

14-16rwhp from a catless x-pipe is very common. Add a tune and 30-40rwhp is not unhead of. All you really need to do power wise for a solid 11 second car.

So where is the 14-16 rwhp coming from...no cats....or the X-pipe ??

http://bigdaddiesgarage.com/angled-cel-fix.html#o2 simulator Angled Big Daddies Garage This is the SS 90 deg version...without the mini cats. The problem with the inline types, whether the mini cat is there or not, the cables are getting close to the DS. I tried the inline types, and the P0320 + P0430 still showed up..and much more often. Have not tried the 90 deg variety. The type with the mini cat should do the trick, and could also be used in conjunction with the 90 deg SS fitting.

Too bad big daddy doesn't make a 90 deg version of the catted type

Well, the OP isn't the only one reading the thread if that makes your day any better. I'm interested in the responses here and I'm sure others are too!

The OP probably saw the rude response about posting in the "wrong" forum section and left.

My personal opinion is that the tech forum needs a new name if it offends participants so deeply when an off-target thread is posted. I understand the intentions of that forum but I can certainly see how the OP's questions could sound tech related.

Just turn the sensors off in the tune. No reason to mess with adapters/minicats/etc.

Damn these Maryland emissions inspections!

Just get the JEGS Cat delete pipes and swap them over when it is time for inspection .

NYS has gone above and beyond in fucking over the enthusiast. They now check for reporting as well as readiness. As in, the computer can't just have it disabled. It will show as not reporting, and then fail. The tuner needs to know how, and be willing, to force readiness. Get ready for more ODB states to follow suit, too.

No, it's not that easy...

...because Maryland is the same way. The emissions test checks for disabled sensors.

If there was more room under the car, I'd V-band the cats and install them and a different tune right before inspection.

Do you have a handheld programmer? I know a few of the tuners know how to set readiness, the key is to talk to them via the phone and let them know what you need.

I'm currently running the FRPP ProCal. I haven't gotten a "custom" tune or different tuner because I haven't needed it yet. My exhaust is still stock from the cats forward right now.
