How far does the adapter move the steering wheel towards the driver? Is it enough to make turn signals/wiper lever reach uncomfortable?

Anyone rewire their cruise control switches to remote locations? I've seen wheels with what looks like little red momentary switches for the horn (on the spokes), but I suppose that can be changed to something that can hold a constant "on" until you hit the brake.

Although this was from a new edge install, so far this is the only info that I could find in my search that gives me an idea to what I'm looking for:
"The air bag controller expects to see the squib's 2.3Ω resistance when it tests the air bag (it does this by passing a low voltage current limited signal through the squib), two 4.7Ω resistors in parallel across the air bag wires provide a 2.35Ω termination, close enough to trick the controller.

Cruise control switch functions were duplicated using two SPDT (center off) momentary contact switches, one SPST momentary switch, and three resistors to simulate the steering wheel mounted controls"

Steve Poe: How did you install your fr500c wheels on your cars? I read that it won't fit with standard adapters. Is there a specific steering column/shaft?

I run a sparco in mine and everything is still very comfy for signals and such. it's been so long since my stock wheel as been on but from the base plastic of the steering wheel to the tip of the rim of my sparco wheel is 5 & 1/4 inch

Did you do anything about the airbag light? I won't ask about cruise control because switches are too heavy for ya. :roflmao:

Just figured I'd be the first to post this!!

I've been looking for a suitable steering wheel to replace the stocker for a while.

Yeah, still no choices out there for a smaller aftermarket wheel that has the stock wheel functions ( Cruise and Airbag).

The big difference between the stocker and the aftermarket wheels is the "dish" depth. IIRC, ours has a pretty deep dish to it, whereas most of the aftermarket wheels are fairly shallow. I'll take some measurements tomorrow, since I have my column all apart. The dimension you're really concerned with is the center point of the wheel hoop compared to the mounting flange. If the aftermarket wheel plus the spacer/hub-adapter depth winds up close, then the turn signal stalk will be in roughly the same place relative to your hands.

Actually there is a direct fit replacement out there, but it's like something around 5 bills and it was more of a show off piece made by Grant. American Muscle carries them?

Five inches even, from the far edge of the hex to the center of the wheel hoop.

I wanted to get an alacantra covered Sparco wheel but I don't know what to do to disable the air bag light without disabling the entire SRS system. I can only assume that if you want the wheel you have to sacrifice the SRS system.
