Hi all,
I am new here as I just picked up a 2014 Mustang 3.7 with only 49k miles all stock. I got it recently from private party and the airbag light is stuck on. The battery was really low when I first brought it home but since driving it’s charged up now. The airbag light would intermittently turn on and off for a few days but now it is just stuck on solid. It turns off for 2 seconds when starting it up but then turns on again. I have check and changed the fuse for the RCM, tried the reset with the RCM with the fuse and ignition but no change. I’ve cleaned the battery terminals, left it disconnected overnight and tried the key reset too as well as jiggling all plugs under the seats. All to no avail. The light is just on, not flashing no sounds nothing just on. Local dealership wants $212 to plug their scan tool in and check for codes. My Innovia OBD reader won’t read airbag codes. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the airbags, I believe it could be because of the battery being so low it trigger the light. Maybe it could be the RCM itself in the center console or is there another way to reset it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First you need to check that your airbags have been replaced due to recall. Ford will have a record for your VIN. If they have not been replaced Ford will do it for free. I can't help you with diagnosis but there must be a scanner that can read airbag codes. There is always the piece of electrical tape over the light too.

Very big misconception that all the dealership will do is scan for codes. The code basically puts you in a zip code. Then the technician uses a workshop manual to specifically diagnose the address. Message me your vin number.

Hi Robert, local Ford dealership did not help much. I ended up having a local shop check the codes and he found that the passenger airbag wasn’t plugged in all the way. So it is fixed now. Thank you.

Funny but that same thing happened when my airbags were replaced under recall. A Ford tech came to my house and did the replacement and when he left the airbag light came on. He came back and said he forgot to plug the passenger side in and it was fixed.

Hello, I bought a 2014 Mustang V6. It works perfectly. Sometimes everything happens at the same time: the airbag light comes on and the automatic transmission goes into retrograde mode. When I stop and turn off the ignition, the car restarts normally. Thank you for your help
