Just want to get this out there.
A buddy of mine has a bone stock 11 5.0.
He has already had the tranny replaced under warranty (3rd gear grenaded).
And just last week his motor went with a #8 failure.
Car has NEVER seen a tune and only had axle backs.
Ford tried to void the warranty because of the axle backs.
Good news is ford is actually covering it under warranty like they should.

.....sigh. Was this the guy that had his trans replaced and had an o/r x and they told him it wasn't a good idea. I think I saw it on another forum.

I was at Champion Ford in Houston this afternoon talking with the service manager about something. He pointed to two GT's in for warranty work and told me that both had #8 piston damage. When prodded, he told me one had a CAI and aftermarket tune, the other was bone stock.

At gulf freeway store? Tell Paul Solomon to hook you up on a car as I know that him and John Wilson have helped me in the past. I know Jewc went there after I suggested him and also got a good deal.

Yep - Gulf Freeway. Actually, I was asking about reflashing the PCM on an 08 GT500 I was looking at (from another dealer). In the course of talking about PCM tunes, he told me about the two cars.

You would think that if enough stock motors #8 cylinder have issues at some point ford has to stop pointing the fingure at the modds and start pointing at themselves

This is the second one that didnt have a tune that i know of, i'm sure there is more, but if it were very common at all then I'm sure there would be a ton of threads about it

I don't understand this. Stock cars drop #8 cylinder. Others are boosted to 600+ rwhp and they hold up!!!

timing and a/f are very different in n/a vs. boosted applications

This being a Mustang forum, I'd expect to hear about stuff like this, but I doubt the sky is falling with the '11-12's dropping pistons like rat turds.

I'd buy one if they weren't so ugly. :roflmao: j/k I really would buy one. With seeing some of these stock motors taking ~750hp.....dang skippy I'd buy one!!!.
