ok, so i get my 5.0 today, and ive been trying to decide what springs to get. im torn because i REALLY want to put skinnies and fattys on the car, but dont want to use 17" wheels for that route, and i REALLY want to drop the car and put 19" or 20" wheels on it like i did w/ my 06. my 06 had the Eibach pro-kit. Im sure this car will goto the dragstrip but not very often, so i cant really see a point in getting the skinnies and fattys just yet. not to mention this car is going to be my daily driver until November probably, and we all know that drag radials dont do so well in the rain when i drive 64 miles a day on the interstate. so im thinking im going to go ahead and get 19's or 20's again, and i want to drop the car.. what springs would be good for the occasional drag strip pass (for weight transfer/traction) and also good for ride quality, and a decent drop? does such a spring exist? i had NO compliants for my Eibach kit, but i never took that car to the strip. ive read a couple guys on here HATED those springs, but they rode just fine for me.. ?? these springs on these 5.0's are also suppose to be the same springs on the 05-10 mustangs to.

Sorry I don't have answers for you but do have a couple questions.

1) I thought the springs/shocks/struts were all revised even from the 2010 models - maybe it was just the shocks/struts - but I thought I remember reading somewhere that the suspension had been further refined/tweaked from even the previous year.

2) When replacing springs on these cars, is that all that is involved (ie. pulling old ones, installing new ones) or do you have to get accompanying parts (ie. caster/camber plates, etc.)?

Thanks for any insights.

Also, for what you want to do, you have competing desires. Most springs that drop a car aren't going to be beneficial for weight transfer since you've already decreased the allowable compression in the rear.

The suspension is better than the 2010. However the springs still suck. I went with the frpp k springs. And yes it's as simple as pull out the old put in the new. Took me and my buddy about an hr or so.

ya dropped mine about 1 1/2 inches. looks killer on 19" wheels. and I beleive the 2011 gt gets all the 2010 gt500 swaybars. It also has re enforced lower control arms

here for one:

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/...stang-gt-debuts-with-412-hp-5-0-liter-v8.html

It’s official: after several broken embargoes, Ford has officially released all the details on the new 2011 Mustang GT. The return of the 5.0-liter brings with it 412-hp at 6500 rpm and 390 ft-lbs of torque at 4250 rpm

accelerating away from a stop on a hill. Added improvements were made to the rear lower control arms for improved stiffness and more direct handling, a stiffer rear sway bar delivers better on-center steering, while the spring and shock rates have been adjusted for optimal performance.

Drop

I think I attached a before and after shot of my car with the ProKit.

You definitely want to lower it. In fact, my ride smoothed out over smaller bumps. This is probably due to the progressive rate on the prokit. I'd much rather get it dropped and have the looks and handling everyday than buy springs for drag racing which you'll use once in awhile. Oooorr...you can step up to the plate and get a full adjustable coil over suspension and jack up, down, left and right and diagonally!! :)

i had the pro kit on my 06 gt, and i think ive decided that i want to lower the car again and go w/ 19" or 20" wheels again.. i dont goto the dragstrip often enough to merit running fattys and skinnies everyday. so the big wheels, and sitting closer to the ground it is for me. :beerdrink:

Here is a blog to when Scott our VP installed the M-5300-P lowering springs on his 5.0. Its sits really nice now. I havent been in the car yet, but scott says it ride is "slightly harsher".

Read through the blog, you can PM me or call me if you have any questions.
