I was just barely starting it. Got a bunch of tools and a garage shop almost set up. Then life hit, and now it's all buried under crap. I hope to be able to carve out some working space again so I can start on the project that got me going; I want to build a nice large format field camera (nothing like jumping into the deep end to start, eh?). That's been stalled for a couple of years now.

I am space limited also I have about 1/2 of one bay in my garage for my shop. I have to share it with my lawn mowers, which I move outside when I am working on things. Here are a couple of shots of my shop. I am standing in the bay my wife's car normally parks in. I move that outside when I am working also.

I have everything mounted on mobile bases and move whatever machine I need at the time out into the open space.

I have been playing with finish work for a few years. Have not made anything too crazy but am about to jump into furniture making.

These are just what I have near the top of my camera list. Ill dig through and find some more.

Just wondered if anyone here did any woodworking. I have messed around with it for quite a while now.

I have been making furniture for years. I like your shop setup. Almost all the furniture in my house I made, here are my kitchen cabinets I done about 4 years ago.

Looks good, I have never gotten into turning but I may try some small stuff next year. Good luck with the furniture.

Thanks, it's small but I have fun working out there. That's some great looking work, do you build professionally, or just for your self?. I mainly do smaller projects, Jewelry boxes, tables and work bench type of projects. I may be trying to build some cabinets for my daughter next year though.

^ I was doing it on the side for play money for years. Now I work for my sons new business doing custom woodwork, kitchens, baths and basements plus we do heating and AC too.
Most of the furniture I do today is for my kid houses, freebee, lol

I work on bowling centers up and down the east coast as my job. I do a lot of work on maple and pine. I cant say I can am a builder on cabinets and furniture like above (it is awesome looking work!) but I am real good restoration with finishes and sanding. I have a huge wood working shop at my job.

When my shop is up and going i hope to get my dad's shopsmith mark 7 out of storage and start working with it again. When i was in high school i made a bat on the lathe, that was a pretty cool project. Earl you have a pretty impressive setup.

Thanks, 2 years ago the arthritis in my spine reached the point that I can't play golf anymore. I needed something to keep my occupied and I had always dabbled in woodworking. I got a better table saw and some other equipment and have been playing out there every since. I enjoy it and mostly make stuff for our house, or for my kids and grand kids.

That sucks that you can't play golf anymore, I don't play as much as I like to and my game shows it.
What I like about woodworking is a satisfaction of making thinks that will be here long after I am gone.
I have to post pictures of my wood shop/man cave/ Shelby museum, lol.

I'm going to make a showcase cabinet for work and want a dustproof or air tight seal without using any velvet or seals. I was leaning towards a hook joint with loose tongues or a rebated joint with tongue slip. What have you guys used?

I'd say a locking rabbet would do just fine.

I've only been into woodworking for a couple years now. It's a learning process. Just a few random pictures that are on my phone.

End grain is the only way to go IMO. Im going to do this design. Looking to make it 2" thick.

Unsure if I should band the edges or not.. been thinking of a checkerboard style, or something a little more intricate.
