What about using the brace on a high HP big bore build? Don't the big bore blocks only have 2 main bolts? Plus the two side bolts of course

Sorry, skimming the post on my phone. As to that though, the jpc main caps are big money over a brace to do essentially the same thing right?

My 5.4L iron block has 2 bolt mains with cross bolts/dowels. I'm shooting for north of 1000rwh, and 7500 rpm. I'm not worried for one second about my mains moving around.

Aren't the Terminator blocks also 2/2 bolt mains? The block I bought as a 03 Cobra block has 2 main bolts and two jack screw bolts per main.

I've never really gotten much from SHM. I see his book as mostly containing solutions to problems that don't exist. But that's how I think about a lot of things.

Lol Bruce you're spot on with you seeing a lot of things as solutions to problems that don't exist.

At least for me, I see them as solutions to problems that may exist, but may not. Cheap insurance as Gmitch said

People have ripped the bottom end out of the 2bolt boss blocks and it takes big power, 1200+. If your going that route use the billet caps to resolve the problem.
