I've got a set of stainless works 1 3/4 headers with a 3 in. collector on my stock 10 gt. and after being pissed off as to the reason why this car is slower than my 07 with similar mods i think ive narrowed it down to possibly the the larger size headers. I also dont have an x or an h-pipe just connecting pipes. would i benefit from down sizing my headers?

Those are very large headers for a almost stock car... Are you planning on going with a supercharger at one point?

Those headers are way too big. If you had a really agressive cam and P&P heads along with some other high airflow mods, you would have been ok. Also, and X or H pipe is a MUST for these cars.

The H pipe makes about 4-5 more ft lbs of torque compared to an X, but most people go for the X due to sound and the few extra HP, not tq.

Honestly, LT's are a supporting mod, not a primary mod.

+1 Based on your current setup the 1 5/8" LT headers would be ideal, but if you plan to make substantial performance upgrades, then hold on to them and just realize you'll "grow into them".

I would simply leave the stock headers on and get other mods to the car. Headers should only be added, 1: you want sound, 2: you are making big power and stock manifolds just dont cut it and restricts the power. at bolts on level, stock maifords are more than enough IMO.

Absolutely. This man speaketh the truth.

My car woke up totally when I put my cams in to complement my full length exhaust. TOTALLY different car now.

One must have a gameplan when modding these things that complement each other. Just throwing parts at it can definitely cause ill-effect.

This is exactly what has been going through my head the past week,I thought maybe my tranny was f'ing up but maybe its just that I lost torque.also, does ur a/c not work that great after the header installation?

There is no direct relationship between the A/C and the exhaust. As long as you didn't cause a leak while working on it, there should be no difference.
