Hey guys, loooong time lurker, 1st time poster. Finally ready to get a gt (been way to long since ive owned a mustang, 1st car an 83gt, had a 93gt, and a 2000gt) so decided on 05 up. My cousin is also a car dealer so is searching for my car as we speak. I would like to list my mods I want done, and why, and if anything is wrong please feel free to correct me. I want to do this once, and do it right.

1)CL cold air intake with sct programmer, about 40hp on premium tune? Best bang for the buck
2) 4.10 gears, as mine will be stick, 3.73 for the autos. Lose a few mpg on highway, pick up a few in city. More power to the ground.
3) Long tube headers, 30hp? I live in canada (Ontario to be more specific), and hear there is no such thing as street legal headers, is this correct?
4) Cat back or axle back exhaust. No hp gains, do it just for the sound correct?
5) Underdrive pulleys: Not worth it I hear, like 3hp gain.
6) Charge motion delete plates, 10hp but lose a little bit of low end, gain some top? Half say do it, other half say dont bother. Opinions?
7) Suspension, dont drop it more than 1", as all the suspension geometry gets out of whack, then ya start needing adj. panhard and new control arms etc.
8) Tires, Nitto 555s seem to be a popular choice, cheap yet hook up nicely.

Any other hp/performance mods I am missing? Not looking to go to far, such as cams or supercharger. Thanks!

I will be the first to say that this is not a tech thread. This belongs in chit chat might wanna take a few minutes reading the rules.

As for the CAI with tune I dont think you will see anything like 30hp from it maybe 15 but I am not even sure on that. You should really look into nt555r's great tire

udp's and cmdp's will get you more than LT's will. Get LT's last. But yes, intake/tune for sure, gears are ok and a sticky tire are all good. Don't forget about lower control arms for the rear.

Honestly I would get the tune and sct first, then long tubes next. They really wake the car up! Then go with gears, followed by cmdp and udp.

Oh sorry if this is in the wrong forum. So def. will go with cai and tune first, gears, and 2 people like the delete plates so far, as well as underdrive pulleys. Long tubes last. Reading at brenspeed they say 15rwhp with an xpipe. So itll be quite a bit of cash, and wouldnt be street legal would it?

You should talk to MattD. He can answer questions as well as anyone and he's just outside Toronto, so I am sure he can tell you want will be ok and what will not.

For my 2 cents... Gears should be at the top of anyone's list. They are relatively cheap and the gains are large. It is an instant, seat of the pants change in the car's behavior.

And thats exactly what I am looking for! Ive got about 2k for upgrades right off the bat, so was looking for best bang for the buck. I was a mechanic for 4 years so can do all the installs myself, and if I dont have the right tools my cousin owns a shop that does. CAI/tune/gears/ sound like the best bet to start with. May go udp also right up front, should make for a fairly quick car :)

What you need to worry about is the MTO's E-Test every 2 years on your car once it gets older...

From what I've read, you'll gain more going to an offroad mid pipe than LT's themselves.

On the 2011's IMO a catback is a worth while investment. The stock pipes are 2.75" crush bent, and have 2 resonators before the axle. There are points in the exhaust where it necks down to just slightly over 2". Whereas most stainless catbacks are a full 3" mandrel bent.

Thanks for the links! And that package deal looks great stang72. It comes with cams so if they take em out, just might be in my price range. Be nice to get everything from one place!

Ok found a car, ad says "05 mustang gt,5 speed hurst shifter, loaded, lowered with eibachs,18 inch ssw wheels, shaker hood installed, ford racing exhaust and cold air intake.black leather interior.Comes with bullit and winter wheels also.Driven only 1 winter.
16 k FIRM, no less,no trades.
Thank you." has 86k on odometer. Got him down to 15k lol. Ill have to get camber plates and panhard bar to fix the suspension drop, also will change to C&L CAI and tuner from brenspeed along with some 4.10s. Its black on black leather, exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks Ultra! What I like most is all the small non critical mods are done already for me, hurst shifter, rims are nice I think, suspension drop (which ill fix like I mentioned), shaker hood and cdc chin spoiler, all stuff I wanted to do anyways. All thats left is gears, intake+tuner, so be cheap to get it the way I want. Theres other GTs for 15k but no mods, and thats like 3k worth of upgrades hes installed. May get the chin spoiler painted to better match the car.

My brother has an 05 impala so he wants the stock rims, was reading and theyre .7mm off from impala bolt pattern, so will bolt right on but some people are concerned about pressure on the studs. Many people run em without issues for years now. But then my stock rims will have an impala taint on them :(
