What do I need to back it up, more gear equals more rpm at the same speed, in turn equals less gas mileage. Especially if he is going from stock 3.31's to 4.56's. He'll lose 5 mpg easy.

sent from my Droid Incredible.

OK you got me with that technical mumbo jumbo.
I gained MPG in town also

I only lost 2 mpg highway when I went to the 4.56 gears. But I picked up 3 mpg in city.
Yeah, I have found(on my '05 and my '03) that gears usually don't negatively affect, or actually help city mpg because the engine doesn't have to work as hard to get the car moving. Of course, this assuming that you can keep your foot out of it, lol. Hwy mpg does suffer though due to the higher RPMs.

My car is a daily driver, (2010 GT with 18K miles on it) and I have 4.56 gears, 75 mph is 2,900 rpm in 5th gear, if you want a nice lopey idle the Hot Rods sound killer, even better then my 127500 comps,
Do you have the Ford Racing 4.56 gears? Dont you have to run a smaller cross pin with those gears?
Thanks

with gears/cams/bolt ons my car at 70mph will only get 23-24mpg. stock i could get 27-28. the mustang is a thirsty girl.
you say 23mpg like its a bad thing, you know how many old school racers would love for there big block 69 camaro or whatever to get that kind of mpg!

Ford Racing gears need the special cross pin when using stock limited slip diff. I used a Detroit Tru-Trak, which does not require the special pin. another thing to keep in mind is 2010 and newer requires a "special" ford only pinion bearing.

I wonder if the special pinion bearing will work on the 05-09 cars? Do you know who sell's the cross pin?
Thanks Ryan

Really? I have absolutely no complaints on the drivability, traffic or otherwise. Sounds like they don't have a steep enough gear and/or a bad tune.

I know the one guy has 4.10s and maybe his tune isnt spot on. I was just relating what I know form guys in person at the track and at local hangouts. Ive not met (in person) one person out of 4-5 guys that like their HR cams. That is their opinions though, The one guy has dyno sheets showing HP gain but it doesnt run a better ET! Dynos #s are sometimes just that.....NUMBERS. I know alot of guys on this forum like them though. Its really an opinion thing I guess, drivability is different for everyone of us. Example- I hate my 4.10s on the Interstate....Fucking hate them....but love them everywhere else. If im over 2K rpm on interstate im pissed! LOL Im buying a 6speed for that very purpose! Glad you like yours though. I think all of us over the years have bought several parts twice because they didnt know what they wanted till they had something to base off of! I know Ive had every gear known to man atleast once. Ha ha and I found that Mod motor cars are different than my old Fox 5.0 far as gearing!

I don't think we are "claiming" power gains, these are actual gains with before and after dyno sheets. I really hate it when some people come on here and say "well I know so-and-so and they say these cams suck". Real power gains lead to better track times. If your guys aren't seeing that, maybe it is with them and not the cams.

As far as streetability, get a good tune and these drive just fine. I went through three tunes through two different tuners until I got one that I liked. Chris Rose worked with me and I really like the way my car drives now.

Listen to the people that actually have the product you are interested in and also have facts to back it up instead of the guy that is regurgitating bogus info that he has read/heard somewhere else.

I think you will be happy with either cam.

Just my .02 with facts to back up.

Sorry if I offended you with the "claiming" word. Didnt mean that you didnt have proof of a power gain, just the way it came out. More power doesnt always mean more ET though. Most cams move the power band and torque suffers some. My car made the same torque after my cam swap but at 1000rpms higher in the band. Ofcourse this is where gears come in.

Im not saying I know so-and-so, Im saying I have friends at the track. Not a guy behind a key board getting butt hurt over someones opinions because they dont concur with yours.

To the OP, it is good advice to listen to people who have the product your interested in. I dont have it and I dont have it because of what Ive seen personally with FRIENDS who have them. I have driven them and raced them on the track. I gained .3 with my 127300 cams. This is not BOGUS info I read/heard somewhere else. Ive driven both cams and like 127300 cams better and they perform better at our track than FRPP/HR cams! Maybe its because of tuning. None of the FRPP/HR cams guys here have the same tuner as I do because they dont wanna drive 500 miles as I have. Maybe thats why they dont drive as good and dont gain ET on the track. Make the best decision form what you feel, trust your instinct and good luck with your choice.

Just my .02 with facts to back it up also!

haha, but its 2011 now man. no reason a fast car has to get awful gas mileage anymore.

LOL, I am not "butt hurt" and I still don't see any facts, just that you have "FRIENDS". That is the same as saying I know so and so in my opinion. I gained 39 RWHP and 20 on the torque side. It is certainly your right to like the cams you have better than the Hot Rods. I have "heard" (see, there is that word again) goods things about your cams. I would guess it would depend on what your friends have as supporting mods. I have the LT's, 4:10's, etc... to compliment the cams and they work really nice. I have taken it to the track and picked up .3 after the install and that was with street tires and spinning like mad. I had to baby it off the line and granny shift into second gear and would still spin. I think I could pick up another .3 or so with good tires. My best 60 foot was 2.09 so a lot of room for improvement.

I am not saying the Hot Rods are the best or that the OP should ignore all the others. I am just saying they pick up about the exact same HP as most of the other NSR cams. Most of them pick up about 30 HP.

So...my only point was why do people bad mouth a product that they really don't have any real facts to back it up with?

One thing I wanted to point out too that I forgot, you aren't really comparing apples to apples. Your cams require changing springs where the two options the OP mentioned do not require different springs. Your lift is higher than the Hot Rods or the 127200's so you should get better performance. So not really a good comparison.

I see your point about the facts! But to me seeing is beliving and thats where facts come from. Fact is these are racing buddies not just friends. Fact is 3 of them installed these cams and gained nothing at the track. Fact is I have driven the cars at the track to see if its a driver issue. Fact is all 3 cars have different supporting mods and different tuners. Fact is you gained from yours and I dont see any reason for you to lie so maybe its a mod they are missing or a good tuner or location/altitude here in Tennessee. Who know? LOL You are correct with the comparison, I had to have springs!
