so im thinging about getting some slicks for autox and im wondering what offset rim i would need to run

315 in back 305 in front

or just an off set that i am able to run 275-315

im thinking about starting with 275 or 295 and then moveing to 305 in the front and 315 in the rear later on so i want to find some rims that would accommodate that

so what do i need

i looked and it is hard to find ppl running that kind of set up

ive only seen one car run a 315 in front and it was a race car, look up agent 47's sn95 mustang! as for a 275, much more common than a 305, but you can run a 9inch or a 9.5 in the front for a 275 and run about a 10 to 10.5 inch for the rear this is what i go by...

As a general rule of thumb, a way you can look at it is you take the rim width, and multiply it by 30. Then that should give you the general width tire you should go for.
Examples:
7.5in wheel = 225
9in wheel = 270
This is just a general way to pick a wheel size. This is not to say you can't go wider or thinner. There are other factors you want to consider too (sidewall height, wheel contact patch, etc...).

id say 275's in all four corners. compound is more imp than size really.

look at what class you want to be in tho, tire size and type get limited. dont jump right into slicks. they will cover up your driving errors to easily. start racing on a set of decent street tires. i started out on 255/45/18 rikken raptors lol. ended up getting good at pushing limits comtrolably then moved to slicks

Roush cars run 274/40/18 on all four corners and the tires are mounted on 18x10 wheels again all four corners.

I have 275-40's all around on 18" x 9's, 26mm Off set (New Edge), lowered on Steeda Sports, no issues. Having the same size all around will be the most neutral, i know some race cars are running staggard set ups but im sure they have good reasons for it aside from looks.

Go to the SCCA forums and take a look at the for sale section. You can find tires with a lot of life left in them for big discounts. I buy all my race tires used. Good way to get your feet wet without dropping a wad.

There's really only 2 tires that autocrossers use, V710s and A6s. Take a look at what sizes they come in. I have a set of V710s in 285/30/18 and 275/40/17. The latter is the better choice. 275/285 is plenty wide when the compound is like glue.

Don't worry about getting the widest possible tire on there yet. I had the 285/30/18 on a 9" wheel. The 275/40/17 are on a 9.5" wide wheel. Get some cheap 17X9-9.5" wheels and 275/40/17 tires all around.
