Build Thread! Blown motor thread #923703460460

I was headed to a friends house tonight, going about half throttle in 3rd gear at about 55 mph when I hear a crazy sound, I see smoke behind me and my car sounds like a tractor. I shut it off and coasted to a nearby parking lot. Popped the hood and found my belt shredded up all over the place. Poked my head underneath to find a small puddle of oil on each side of the motor. Stuck my camera phone underneath the car and looked around and found two holes, one on each side of the motor:
Passenger side:

Driver side(you can see the hole just behind the motor mount bracket):

More pics to come as I get it torn down.

Now, I'm thinking of going with an Aluminator, stock compression ratio(I would prefer to buy a completely assembled longblock, though). Stock heads, with maybe some blower cams. I'll upgrade the clutch/flywheel and oil pump while I'm in there, but I want it to be perfectly streetable and reliable for daily driving. I'd like to see 600 whp, but upper 500's is just fine.

Are there any other options that I can buy that would be a fully assembled long block? I'd like to keep it as simple of a job as possible and don't want to have to take it anywhere to assemble the heads/cams onto the shortblock.

Any tips or advice is appreciated.

interesting...so it blew without WOT or abusive driving?

How much you looking to spend on a block? that would give us an idea on what to offer you...Also, you will need to take your heads off and send them to the shop you are going to get to build the shortblock. Most likely the heads will need to be rebuilt. There is a good chance some aluminum got sucked into the heads and possibly into the whipple.

I was doing some spirited driving, but by no means WOT. It let go at around 4k rpm or so from what I can tell. I've never revved it past 6k with the whipple on, but the car was also turbo'd a few months back.

I'm not as concerned with the cost as I am with making sure it is done right and done fast. I'm ok with the price of the Aluminator, or even the JDM 302E stroker, but my biggest concern is assembling the engine.
With a new clutch and all I'd like to keep it around $6k or so.

If you plan on going to 600rwhp, dont get the 302E. They aren't built to handle that power reliable. Any of the sponsors can get you a built shortblock, but make sure you get all ARP and billet oil pump gears. Talk with them about your driving habits and change your compression as needed.

Damn, sorry to hear this and now I'm worried as hell! My limiter is set at 6,500 and my shift light at 6,100. Never hit the limiter but been to 6,100 about a hundred times.

How much HP were you running and who tuned it?

Thanks for the support everyone!

-As for the power, I never dyno'd it.
-I was running a mail order tune from VMP, it ran great and pulled hard for the entire time I've had it.
-I've had the blower on since the first week of October.
-I'm running a 3.4 pulley, which put me at 9.5-10 lbs of boost depending on the outside temperature.
-A/F ratio was a solid 11.7-11.8 all the way through.
-Other mods were 4.10 gears, Mac LT's, Mac prochamber, axle back, other than that, stock cams/heads/motor
-The car was turbo'd for 3 months or so at the beginning of the year, maybe 3,000 miles
-3,000 miles on the Whipple setup since I've had it.
-I would estimate power around 470 WHP.
My shift light was set at 5800, and I usually shifted before it even lit up, so no high revving at all.
