blinking engine light

i was driving my 06 mustang gt on the highway i floored it to pass a car. it started running rough and the engine light started blinking.i slowed down andit went away. droveforanother 45 minutes with no problem. any ideas

What codes did you get or are stored? Do you have an automatic? When you say started running rough, how?

You would need a good scanner that has the ability to look at MODE 6 codes. Will most likely give you a misfire code.

The CEL only flashes for a misfire event.
The issue cleared up, light is off.
Can you duplicate the issue? If so, light will likely stay on the second time.
You have a 20 year old car, any number of issues could cause a missfire.

Without a proper scanner to pull codes we are all guessing... (ignition coils, bad gas, etc.)

I understand that. With the proper scan tool that can do MODE 6 it can possibly pull a pending code to give you some direction.

Sometimes your CEL will flash for transmission faults also, that is why I asked what kind of tranny you have.

sorry idk what mode 6 is it does show live data with no problems
