Blower fan speed issue

Hello gents,

I'm having a problem with my Heating/AC. I bought the car a couple months ago, and it came like this. It is an '09 GT, almost completely stock, 32K miles, very good condition.

The problem is the blower fan will not go past the lowest setting. It does put out heat and AC, but it won't turn the blower up. I tried replacing the blower motor resistor as explained here. It did not have any affect. What is my next step in diagnosing this?

Sounds like the fan speed switch in the a/c control panel.

Is that something that can be replaced inexpensively? Is it separate from the rest of the unit, or is it one part?

Would it be worth it to start disassembling stuff to see if anything looks out of place? (Like this guy who found some plugs melted)

Switch and possibly the pigtail. Something is melted causing the electricity to jump wires!

It's part of the a/c hvac control panel. They are easy to access.

Well I finally got around to checking this out. I got off the center console and that side panel that leads to the back of the HVAC panel, and looked at the back of the it. Lo and behold the fan switch was completely unplugged. It seemed like the cord was tucked away on purpose. The plug and socket both looked great. I plugged it back in and it works. It was like that when I bought it and I have no idea why someone would do that. I just wish I looked at this a while ago!

make me thinking somebody had that dash apart for some reason or another.
do you have the car repair history. or is there an after market radio in it.

Yeah, that is a good explanation. I don't have a repair history. Is there someway you can look that up? I bought the car with 3 years and 30K miles on it. There is no aftermarket radio.

Outside of the Carfax or dealer history, none that I know of. There may have been an aftermarket radio, and it was returned to stock. Pretty quick to do, especially if it was put in with proper wiring harnesses/etc.
