BMR Relocation Bracket issue?

I was trying to install my set of BMR relocation brackets today when changing out the control arms, however, it seems as though the space between each side of the bracket, that would go around the OEM bracket, is not big enough.

One side goes outboard of the control arm bracket, the other side goes inboard of the bracket, making it impossible to put the gold spacer over the bolt.

Has anyone had this issue before? My mechanic friend said I would either have to press the OEM bracket slightly inward, or push the sides of the BMR bracket slightly outward.

As always, any advice is greatly appreciated.

If I can remember correctly it was a very tight fit. I think I used the mounting bolt on the stock bracket and tightened it down tight. Then started the BMR relocation bracket over the stock bracket. Removed the bolt and used a rubber dead blow to nudge it the rest of the way on and into position. It wasn't that hard but I did need to persuade it a little.

Do you have the control arm attached to the relocation bracket yet? Bolting down the LCA into the bracket will cause it to compress a little, and the other way around. Don't tighten the bracket down before starting to bolt up the LCA. If you tighten the bracket mounting bots it will be hard to squeeze the LCA into the bracket.

I put the original control arm back in for now. Since I had to get to work. But it's a little more than a snug fit, seems like it needs to be about an 1/8 further apart to fit and it'd be spot on. Didn't have anything on it when trying to fit it.

I greased the sides and had to persuade it into place. It's very snug but fits.

Alright, i'll certainly try that out when I get the chance, might have to use an expander to flex the metal slightly.

All those install videos make it look so easy to slide in.

Maybe just a thick spot on the powdercoating. It will go, you just need more persuasion.

Thanks, worst comes to worst I'll see about getting it up on the lift and forcing it into place.

One way or another, I'm getting these done before I go to sea.

Alright guys, I managed to get it to fit properly around the axle mount, but the bolt holes won't line up now, there's one hole for where the OEM control arm would go, and another that goes in the place where the axle weights would be.

I'm feeling like this shouldn't be as difficult as it is.

I do not remember mine being that difficult to fit on, but I do remember it being a pita to get the holes lined up on the driver side I believe it was.

We manufacture these brackets with very tight tolerances, so they're a tight fit already. Combine that 10 years of axle rust, and they can be a bit of a pain to get on the car. As far as lining the axle weight holes up, leave all the hardware loose on the bracket and use a pry bar to get the holes lined up.

Alright, you think I should sand down the rust on the axle and everything? I could only get one hole lined up, the other wouldn't fit. But I will give it a try next time I'm under the car.

I was about to say that all the years of road grime build up has made a lot of my suspension mods difficult to get on my car as well. Simple green and a wire brush makes quick work...and smells good too!
