I think of it as anything that can be put on in a couple hours (Longtubes are included even though they take a bit longer)

Bolt On's:

Air Intake, Mass Airflow, Throttle Bodies, Engine Intake Manifold and anything from the Headers back. That does not include Forced Induction like rear mounted turbo's.

Driveshafts, brakes and springs/dampers/PHB's can also be included. If older cars, then I would throw in Distributors and High Voltage Coils.

If it costs more than $1,000 and improves Engine performance, it most likely isn't a "bolt on" product. It has to be easy, something a moderately experienced mechanic can do in his or her driveway. Sure, most Super Chargers and some Turbo's can be done in your driveway, but then you're talking about large increases in performance and thousands of dollars for a single component.

That's my opinion.

Anything that can be bolted on the exterior of the motor, including power adders.

id say its everything but serious engine work, i.e cams, heads and FI.

or in the LSx nation where EVERYTHING is a bolt on, ever strokers and engine swaps.
