I am hoping someone here has some experience that they can share about 3 valve fasteners.

1. Are cam cap bolts TTY? If so, is there really a need for ARP bolts http://www.modularmotorsportsracing...age=product_info&cPath=4_7_45&products_id=821 or studs https://www.arp-bolts.com/kits/arpkit-detail.php?RecordID=3922 ?

2. Do timing chain dowel pins break thus needing these http://cobraengineering.net/drill f...5x4VTkbehSeyxFNFzI2piGaAHm_dQg3jJz5icHLAXy9OQ ? I don't think I have ever heard of the dowel pin breaking but I do use a 2-step when I drag race the car.

3. I just bought a used short block. Does anyone sell a bolt kit for the 3v that includes a complete set of bolts (oil pan bolts, timing cover bolts, oil pick-up tube bolts, etc)?

Thank you.

The cam cap bolts are not TTY. Stock bolts are fine. The cam sprocket bolt is TTY. Use a new Ford bolt every time you take it off. ARP makes very nice head stud and main cap stud kits to go with rod bolts, side bolts, flywheel and balancer bolts. All worth while and reusable.

I broke a timing chain pivot pin. From the sounds of it, this is rare but still happens. I did not use that jig that they sell to drill it out, I just kept stepping up to a slightly bigger bit and a slow speed until it was drilled to sizenand I used the accufab pivot pins.

For cap bolts, you are talking about the cross bolts on the block, correct? The correct name is actually cap bolts but they always get confused with the cam caps. The stock ones do specify an angle of 90 degrees after inital torquing so they are TTY.

I've never managed to find a complete bolt kit for a 3v.

Just to be clear. The bolts for the cam caps are not TTY. They torque to 10 Nm or 89 in/lb. I looked at the sight you referenced and don’t know why MMR would say the bolt they show is TTY. Ford manual says they are not.
Also, when using ARP bolts or studs the TTY method is no longer applicable. ARP fasteners come with there own torque specifications to get maximum clamp force without doing the torque and turn thing.

Thanks RED09GT,
"accufab pivot pins"? These https://accufabracing.com/ford-mod-motor/pivot-pins ?
No. I mean cam cap bolts. The bolts that hold the cam caps onto the head. There is a picture in the MMR link (first one).
Yeah, as Midlife Crisis says, they are not TTY.

Pivot pins, dowel pins- basically the same thing. I went with Accufab but both are better than stock. Here is my thread after one of mine broke:
