Boost a pump questions

Baps have a hum to them you can hear when energized, much like a transformer hums, you wont hear it unless the car is off and your looking for it. It's normal and nothing to be concerned about.

For conversation's sake, VMP just came out with a new one. I like that it's set to 16V and doesn't use a Hobbs switch. It's also plug and play. Full disclosure, I haven't used The Roush, JMS, or VMP... I've just been researching them.

My only experience is with the VMP and you'd never know it was there unless you saw it in the trunk. I have the older version that had to be wired in place, not the newest plug and play version. I think the plug in version is a fantastic idea because it's impossible to wire it wrong.

I always liked the hum my BAP produced. To me it made it pretty simple to confirm that it was working when I did the occasional check over of the car.

I've never noticed a hum with mine and being into audio as well I'm a bit surprised I haven't if that's standard fare. I know it's working though or I'd have already done the forged thing... lol

Might it be that I don't hear mine because it doesn't "energize" until activated by the hobbs switch so I just can't here it until I'm into boost?

Like I mentioned you have to look for the hum and I canly only ever hear it when the car is off and just the key is on.

Depends on how you have it wired, the bap is energized when the car is on regardless of how much voltage the fpdm is actually allowing to go to the pump.

40 amp BAP here no problems at all. Shelby puts it on The Super Snake from the factory.

I am going with the Kenne Bell BAP. There seems to be a lot of new offerings showing up with claims that they are better. But the original Kenne Bell unit is time tested.
