boost controller

Wanting to get input on boost controller. I currently have a turbo xs manual boost controller. Now that I have a little more money I want to look into something a little more user friendly. I normally run it turned down. Only 1/2 turn open. I'm looking for something that is easy to switch from daily driver to track.
Also what what has me concerned is boost spike which I am currently experiencing. It will spike up to 10 psi and drop to about 6.Could it be that the controller needs to be t-d closer the the waste gate. It currently sits closest to the turbo. It does it in any gear. Rpm climbs and boost will drop.

A spike isn't really rpm based. It's usually caused by a gate setting that is too close to target pressure. But then quickly falls to where it should be. 10 dropping to 6 w rpm sounds like a back pressure issue. Guessing it starts around 5k or so. W a real boost spike it lessens w more gearing since the rpm rises slower and the valve has more time to react in the gate. What you're looking at likely has zero to do w the controller. Disconnect it completely if you want to check. The drop in boost will be similar. But the numbers will be lower overall because of no controller. Ie: 8 to 4 or 6 to 2psi. It could also flatten out at a lower boost level where the gate isn't being pushed open also.

Looks like CPR covered your bases, on the subject of controllers I just installed a Boost Leash and found the controller to be great, relatively simple to install and Randy the owner provides great advice and support...

Boost Leash is a great controller, just odd shaped. Turbosmart EBoost2 is great, but a very clunky interface to figure out.
