LOL! Just buy a regular 5.0 engine and upgrade the pistons? That's the only difference aside from the camshafts and upper intake if i'm not mistaken.

That and the CNC'd heads...:hi:

CNC'd Heads, cams, rod bearings, stronger rods, intake, valve springs, sodium filled and hollow stem valves, forged pistons, large sump oil pan and I think a couple of other things are different.

It's basically a "built" motor ready to run 8,000+ rpm out of the box.

For half that, you could get a supercharger kit, push 500 rwhp, and still have 6k for ho's and beer. :)

Just saying, a bit of both would be ideal.

With the FRPP engines you are getting a 12mo/12,000 mile warranty priced in. For the mathematically challenged that's 48,000 1/4-mile passes....if you can work them into a year!!! Or you can do 2 round trips from Boston to LA--Wide open!

there was a guy on modularfords that bought a boss long block no harness or intake and i think he paid 6166 plus shipping from Tousley Ford so buy an intake which sell for like 420 from them as well and that's still cheaper than the regular 5.0 motor. i think this is the link.http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php/171755-Boss-302-engine-is-here

That's Kdanner. He's on this board too. He bought that when it first came out and was dirt cheap. It's now no-longer that price, or anywhere near that price. It has doubled since then. He knew it would, and it did. For that same long block now you'd be looking at about $10k before the core charge.
