Went to a private track day at CA Speedway today. And true to form, it was hot (85 degrees) and windy (headwind) as usual. The weather always sucks at this track.

Anyway even though it was a private track day, there was alot of breakage and I only ran 4 times all day.

The day was was ok I guess---I was ok on the tree with a .012, a .044, red lighted once at -.062, and my worst of the day was a .133. 60' times were ok with two good 1.50's, one ok 1.54 and one bad 1.59. I ran 3 10's but was off the pace by 2/10ths. I attribute that to the heat/wind and I did not take out my passenger seat/shaker 1000.

So I line up against Brandi and obviously based on the thread title you know what happens. It was close to the 1/8th mile mark though, as Brandi was ahead by .031 seconds at that point. It was a fun race for sure.

Here is my best run of today. Wind, heat and a little added weight kept me a couple tenths slower then expected.

10.91 @ 124mph

Nice video still, looked like a good race.
Nobody's car likes the headwind/heat combo, but at least you got out there!

I agree, thats still impressive to nail 10s in non optimal conditions.

Yeah, I was hoping for 10.70's though as this track has always been 2-3 tenths slower for me then Bakersfield. I want to run 10.50's at Bakersfield.

What was interesting is there was a bunch of vettes there also, all of which were in the mid 11's (from what I saw) at about 118 mph. There was a nice black Z06 that ran 118 mph but only a 11.9X---but it was factory stock.

Yep, stock rubber to--but those tires were pretty big. Run flats must be a bitch to hook up at the track though.

man 4 runs @ a rental - that's disappointing!

The tracks around here never do rentals on the weekends!!

nice vid tho... I have a private rental in two weeks. I hope to make 12-15 passes at least!

You sound surprised Don.
We have a local guy running 11.6-1.7 bone stock.
For that track and those conditions, yes I'm a bit surprised at 11s. Your track is a whole 'nother level man... not a fair comparison there.

I think I see the problem  She was faster...

You bring up a great point MikeC-- I shouldn't be complaining at all--I have a true street car (put almost 600 miles on it just last week) and I can turn a 10.90 on a bad weather day. Drive to the track, drive home, drive to work the next day.

I didn't see the RT's, but it looked you got her off the line, but she had more power...

Fun stuff even when you lose...
