Yea my clutch dont slip at all it is the 3 not tye 3 plus

Anyine know what the stock disk is made of?
Well, not sure why, all I know is most every time I see a broken manual tranny, there is a Spec clutch attached to it. Just something to consider...

so you put a complete stage 3 clutch in, i really don't think changing the disk will help much as the clamping force comes from the pressure plate. have you thought about or looked into a Boss302 clutch kit? the boss seem to be able to hold a lot of power. might be worth looking into.

I dont think the clamping force is the issue.

I should be able to ease off the pedal and slowly apply clamping force, the extra force just helps hold tight at high rpms.

I believe the problem is the shitty disk, it does not slip.
It grabs instantly, very hard in stop and go traffic

The problem with the MT82 is its torque rating of 383 ft lbs. The car comes from the factory with 390 ft lbs. How is it supposed to hold up?

What weight is that rating for? If.its heavier than the Mustang, then that rating means nothing in this application.

EDIT: Ouch, treed something fierce.

The MT82 383 number is from a BMW M3 which is where they got the benchmark for the mustang. The BMW weighs 3704 and has a ft lb rating of 295.

I have noticed this as well. There are plenty of folks who have run the MT-82 with success using McLeod and RAM clutches. Low 11, high 10 sec. cars dumping the clutch @6K on slicks.

Something to consider.

My 3rd and 5th gear went out on my first MT-82 after 3k miles. When the new trans went in, a Mcleod RXT went in. I have had no issues in 6k miles, and there is a lot more HP and TQ about to be thrown at it so we will see how it holds up

The spec pressure to plate is very similar to stock just a little tougher
Call it what you want... It seems like the Specs have a hand at breaking transmissions, for whatever reason. Do searches. They're easy enough to find.

The torque rating on the T5 in the 4.0L Mustangs was 300. Myself, and many others went over that with no problems. One guy (Fazm) went through I think four transmissions (with a Spec clutch each time). Had nothing to do with his power level or the rating of the tranny.

I still have the stock clutch assembly, the reason I only want to change the disk is because I had my presureplate balanced with my flywheel when I built my engine.

I think the agressive spec disks are killing them.

And COYO TT how did you lose your gears, did they grind or were they just not there at all

I think most tranny breaking with spec clutches happens to be by coincedence. I bought a spec stage 3 bc it was the cheaper of the bunch and had the better torque ratings and with the saved money it allowed for more performance parts. Maybe people trying are trying to save a buck or two. And by saveing a buck i dont mean by buying junk parts. I just dont see how one specific clutch would cause random tranny failure. But i guess we shall see in the coming months what luck i have. Maybe im a noob or something. But ive had no issuse with mine in rather short time its been installed.

I broke all the teeth off 3rd, syncros and forks and everything else is fine.

Good lord. Combination of too much clutch and a DR? I would consider a slick, perhaps, once you get it back together. I have seen DRs break parts on these cars between shifts, not just at the hit.

Sorry, man.
