I have a 2012 Mustang GT with a MT82 Transmission. I had issues with gear lockout and ended up swapping for a barton short throw. It felt way better but still had a little bit of lockout on 4th at high rpm. A buddy of mine gave me a barton hybrid 3 shifter which is transmission mounted and it seems to fix the problems entirely, but while I was driving and I shifted into 3rd, I let off the clutch and it acted like neutral. I took the shifter out and shifted the linkage rod on the transmission manually and let off the clutch and I have 3rd gear, but putting the shifter back in, it acts like it's not letting the shift rod move enough to get into 3rd. I have all other gears. Is this a common issue that I just haven't heard of? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the club from Missouri. I have the Barton hybrid 3, trans mounted, in my 12 and I have had no issues. You might want to contact Barton for some advice. I know you received it second hand but recheck the install video and see if maybe a step was missed. Good luck.

What are you saying is High RPM? Conventional Synchronized Transmissions do not like High RPM shifting.

Anything about 4500 rpm to 5000rpm. I should also mention when I lost 3rd it made no noise or anything. I just shifted in and it acted like neutral. Not even a bang or a grind.

Time for a rebuild it soulds like. If the Transmission grinds into gear for any reason it will start to mushroom the gears and that des not fix itslef.

99% of shifting issues with ANY manual transmission is likely just a CLUTCH issue at first. Keep driving with a bad clutch, and it will also grow into a transmission issue.

Thank you. I sent a email to barton and left a voicemail. I see that there is a bolt on the block the shifter sits in. I just wonder if it's adjustable because with the shifter assembly out of it I can pull the rod into place and go into 3rd perfectly fine. It's a very odd situation.

So far Barton has told me to try loosening up the linkage, trans mount, and braces for the shifter and try shifting into 3rd a few times and as I do that start tightening stuff up to see if it adjusts and shifts. I haven't gotten to it yet because of work but any insight would be much appreciated. In all the manual Transmissions I've messed with normally I would think they would grind or bang or something along those lines when they fail.
