BES Racing Engines does all of my Engine Work. However, if I was close to Mike, I would not hesitate to use him, he does great work.
I did have problems after The Super Bowl race in Joliet.
I was at my local test n tune, and started getting a little antifreeze out of the cap.
We figured that the car had just finally stretched the factory head bolts, as we were still running on them.
Upon cleaning up the cylinders, we found a small hairline crack the the top center (right where they have put the new material in the block).
Nothing was hurt in the engine, other than that. We grabbed one of the few 11/12 blocks that were left, and moved everything over, we did freshen up the bearings while we were at it. Everything else looked great.
Was this on stock internals?
Just curious on how far you can honestly safely push these stock motors. I am on many other forums and read a bunch of junk, but I feel there is a lot of knowledge on this one.
It is possible to get 600rwhp safely?
should be no problem,
with a good tune / fuel 700 or so rwhp shouldn't be a problem
The former being the key. For each tuner out there I can find a bunch of people saying they are "good" and a bunch of people saying they aren't and rumors of blown engines. It's almost impossible to determine who is "good" since there is no reporting or accountability in this industry. I think every company but one (and their results are so-so compared to the more aggressive tuners) gives you the tune "as is" and provides no claims or guarantee for safety or reliability.
I'm not saying anything good/bad about anyone's abilities as a tuner. My only point is that its extremely difficult to find truly objective info on the reliability of ANY tuner since most of what you find is rumors/heresay.
A good example would be Sean from AED. There is a large group of people who swear by him, and an equally large group of people who seemingly devote their lives to his defamation. It's incredibly difficult to sort out the truth over the Internet when you have a bunch of people giving conflicting information about a topic on which no real data exists.
This is all why I lean towards the route of getting a custom dyno tune rather than a mail order tune. If the worst does happen, it's a lot easier to go back to the shop who physically did the work with the car in their house compared to just getting an email tune and hoping that its safe, with no guarantee that it is.
Just my 2c though, take it as you will and as always make sure you do your own research.

I agree with 100% a dyno tune from the right person is a much better solution then any email tune!! When you have the car in your hands you can do a much better job tuning it IMO.

why cant both be the truth? I an proud to be one of those that defamed AED. All that I have stated WAS the truth. The N/A 2012 that blew within a day after his tune was sitting dead at another local shop. I and others have had dealt with them personally. Just like MMR and SD they have a bad rap, but have done good with others.. its your money and if you cant wait for the best like some people then take a bigger gamble![]()

You can't pull and check plugs w a remote tune though. These new cars may have knocks sensors but data logs won't show if the plugs are the right heat range or cylinder heat. Does anyone check plugs anymore? Lol
So I read that there a few blocks in builders shops as of this weeks end.
Its being sold as a race block.
