Like it says, trying to remove the c clip from the drivers side axle. I have an Auburn Pro diff. I removed the pinion shaft but can’t push the axle far enough to get the c clip off. Is there any tricks to get the axle in farther. I only need a fraction of an inch.

Check for ABS sensor hanging up axle. While not a mustang, I ran into exactly that on our Grand Marquis' 8.8. Had to remove ABS sensors to rebuild rear.

I got it. What a hassle. I think because the axle was bent that it either got slightly shorter or it would not slide all the way in. I had my boy bang on it with a rubber mallet as I extracted the c clip. Took a few whacks and I didn’t pinch my fingers so we’re good.
