ok guys, I threw this out there as an option. There is always a debate on this cam vs that cam for this or that reason. Im offering my shop time,a test vehicle, and dyno for some unbiased testing on some of the more popular cams.If ANYONE wants to end a debate or care to back up their opinion with numbers then thats what this is about. Im not interested in starting a bashing debate or a shop vs shop competition. We have our own opinions,reasons and data to support why we like the cams we do so this doesnt benefiot me or my shop in anyway. If you are not interested in that or have anything to offer then feel free to not participate in this.



So far I have a set of comp 127200 cams (already delivered). I am also waiting on a set of HotRod cams we will be pulling from a customer car. Id like to test a set of the Detroit Rocker cams as well.

I REALLY hope this works out. It would be interesting to see the results if you could keep the enviroment and testing from any scrutiny.

Basically impossible especially since each cam will be tuned differently.

Its nearly impossible to duplicate with 100% accuracy. With a methodical approach and a consistent test procedure I will be able to have solid comparable data. I will also be testing these on the exact same vehicle to help eliminate as many variables as possible.

subd. not really interested in buying cams, but I want to see which shops truly believe in their cams. Im tired of reading the inflated results of these type of tests from magazines who are suppose to be unbiased and "for the average gear head"!
Like others have said though, you should probably contact each company and let them know what your trying to accomplish. Let them know that there are plenty of potential customers on these forms that are VERY interested in this test and that you would be willing to post the test up on all of the major mustang forums. Which still makes the #1 variable inconsistent. I think we can all agree that your tune is the biggest factor in how much power your car makes, be it a supercharger or an intake. Just because the same person tunes the cams provides no basis for a fair comparison.

We are actually working on this right now. There are a few vendors on here we deal with and I will be contacting them to gauge any interest.

It is a direct comparison of the cars MAX hp with the stock cams vs the cars max hp with the test cams.

I have a set of BBR Stage 1's that can be borrowed. Sounds to me most of the bases are covered if it all works out.

I think you would be better off using the same tuner for each cam. Limit your variables.

I have a better idea, maybe I can get some of you to send me your entire cars, I would like to put this 3v/4v thing to rest. I would like to get one of each of the following:
05-09 gt(completely stock)
11+ 5.0(stock)
07-09 gt500(stock)
2011 gt500(stock)
04 cobra(stock)
After you let me borrow the cars I would like to put an end to the "what are the hp limits of my car" thread so I would like to mod the cars enough to max their stock blocks so I can see down to the tenth of a horsepower at which the engines decide to go!
