Can you reverse mount the stock intake?

Actually, the idea that Greg and I are tinkering with is pretty trick.

I cannot stress enough though, that I AM NOT committed do doing anything. It is extremely likely that I am just going to bolt back up a new whipple head unit. I'm pretty confident whipple is going to take care of me and this blower so it will probably just go back the way it was. Just that Greg has some great ideas and I've always wondered about a few things and while the car is a part right now, I want to play around with some ideas and see what is possible.

Having said that, the idea I am checking into is making the factory fog light location into working headlights and mounting twin ball bearing 67mm turbos in each of the stock headlight locations. I am also thinking of running a huge water cooler in the passenger compartment of the car and using my already giant resevoir in my trunk to feed it. Yes- cutting out the heater core and feeding everything through the firewall to the cooler and back. the idea is to cut almost all heat out of the engine bay and make the turbo piping as efficient and cool as possible.

Whats tolerance w/ firewall?

Turbo piping run through firewall to intake:idea: ....NICE! Huge I/C for passenger seat, or turbo itself... upside down exhaust and twins??

:popcorneat:

I rememberd that someone else did this,

It took the pic for it all to click...again, NICE. Twin 67's...wow... using the VNT technology from the Porsche! I called it! LOL, check my post on your 'I love my wife' thread ;)

That route is very heat efficient... almost wanna put it in the REAR passenger: further back, and still keep the passenger seat for the strong willed... or the ones that have lost it completly!

Apprec. the update:bigbeer:

Yep, very similar to this except using the concept for twins and also moving them almost completely out of the engine bay into the headlight areas - also - and not having to spend a fortune on the intake set-up. The thinking is you should be able to do it with a stock manifold and TB.

I'm also investigating the idea of remaining a factory interior 'street' car' and keeping the stock dash by running the piping for the huge cooler a little differently...

I'm not entire certain as to what the performance benefit is.

Unless you're building an all out drag car, these things drop 800 hp like it's a sneeze. Why reinvent the wheel and cut the car up while you're at it?

Hell, 1000+ RWHP is two turbos and a built motor away; all under the stock hood. :)

It's about making a big power turbo car not only heat efficient - but streetable.

How cool would it be to drive to the track, run an 8.60 and drive home?...

Hell even just talking strip here - I'm in cali - how great is a big turbo set-up when the temp is 90º dry heat outside? I would never put a front mount air cooler on a turbo car - been there - done that - it has to be water cooled IMO.

Who makes a watercooled kit?

Nobody - that's who. Have to do it yourself if you want it.

I'm not trying to be a jerk and getting a little tired of people who are.

I'm asking a question.

I think we've had enough...

your asking a question by saying ....... Why reinvent the wheel and cut the car up while you're at it?

seems smartass too me , if he wants to cut the fucker in half and weld it together backwards hell im all for it its his ride and his cash ....

bj ( 05mustang_kb_ charged ) had talked to mike at powerhouse a while back about doing something like this and actually he was going to use his kb intercooler ect. but he decided it would cost too much to do .... i know you have a lil bigger allowance so it may be possible for you lmao

The stock KB 'resevoir'? or the actual innercooler itself?

I'll tell you this, it would have been a BAD idea to use the KB innercooler.

ANY TS cooler for that matter. Hell, I was amazed when I pulled the blower a part to see that 'brick' of an innercooler (it's about the size of a brick in TS blowers)

Really got me thinking that no matter how big a resevoir you put on it, that little brick is NEVER going to be enough. That's why you are so limited (making power wise) with a blower actually.

I feel stupid actually for putting a big resevoir in the trunk now, if I'm honest. Hell, doesn't mater if I have 100 gallons supporting, that litle brick just plain sucks. I really wish I knew last year what I know now about this shit...lol

Now I'm not a fan of ANY 'kit' out there - I don't think any of them (turbo and blower alike) are capabale of handling big street power for any length of time under any regular use no matter what kind of motor you throw in it.

Just my .02..:2cents:

Knowing what I know now, I would have gone the water cooled turbo route a long time ago or if I was just starting.

I went by Greg's today and saw your car with the reverse intake. He has some crazy ideas that no other Mustang has seen/done. He says he wants you to be done with the twin screw game and go faster on all boost.

If I do decide to go the route we are thinking, it will certainly be bad ass.

Either way, operation LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP started today anyway. Pulled all my AC crap and lost 35 lbs right there...

Cutting out some crash beams are going to shave more. No matter what power plant I do, this car is dropping 150 lbs & still going to look pretty...:beerdrink:

I don't know what I'm going to do as of today. I just know I have some interesting options out there. Sure would be neat to have an 1100 rwhp 3V that can drive to the track...

Now slow down a minute and think about the science involved here. When you were draining the water from the reservoir after a run, did you notice how warm the water was? Or, then after you packed in some ice, and you turned on the pump, did you notice the incoming water being quite warm for a few seconds, and then it got nice and cold?

Well, that is heat transfer. The water got hot because it was removing the heat from the air that passed over it. That "little brick" does what it was designed to do. No, it's not going to be as efficient as an ultra-large-race-car-only type system... but for a street/strip application, its fine. Especially when used in conjunction with an ice box at the track.

I assume that means the custom Killer Chiller is a dead project, correct?
