DOT Safety would make it illegal for them to take the car and sell it again without addressing the recall. Since they can't get their hands on parts til such a late date, I'm guessing they don't want to sit on the car that long. Sucks man.

i'm not irritated at them, i'm annoyed at ford for not having parts available for at least 6 more months. I have been on the list for 6 already

More than likely it's just not meant to happen right now. Come spring you might be very glad that you still have the 2013. Maybe not.

I have wondered for a while now how long would it take before people started lawsuits pertaining for situations just like yours or for having to operate a vehicle that is 'unsafe' and the maker has no solution for. Just for curiosity what were you trading it in for?

its not fords fault its the company that produces the airbag that made shitty stuff and cannot repair and produce millions of them for affected vehicles.

I disagree they went to the lowest bidder and got shitty parts, it is their fault, they should be held responsible!

Okay here is one for you, why do so many people hold Ford responsible for the 05-07 HT plugs and all the issues resulting from that? Ford didn't make the plug, Motorcraft is made for Ford to Ford's specs by Autolite or Allied Signal. Ford designed the vehicle, sent out the bid/specs to airbag companies, those companies filled those specs and Ford picked the most attractive price per unit from those manufacturers. So Yeah it is on Ford because they chose that manufacturer for THEIR car. Does the airbag maker share responsibility? Hell yes but so does Ford absolutely as it is their name on the car.

I traded my '13GT in with no recall "fix". They gave me top dollar AND sold it for a large profit.

Try another dealer.

This. The dealership I worked at was taking '11-'14 trades and selling '11-'14 cars up until I left about a month ago.

We came up with a form that the purchasing party had to sign that explained the recall top to bottom and that they were liable should anything happen.

Most were already aware of it, and had no problem with it.

I took my car to CarMax to see what they would give me for it and ran in to the same issue. They said they could not give me fair trade in value for the car since the airbag recall was not fixed. Said they could only give me $15k for it since they would have to sit on the car until the recall was repaired. Once fixed they could give me $23k...

Find another dealer. I've traded in and sold plenty of S197's since the recall came out. Just bought my Z06 and it has the same airbag recall - buyer just has to be aware of the recall (ie Carfax report) and that parts will be available in the future.

Find another dealer. I traded in my 14 and it had an open recall on it. Carmax, on the other hand, would not take it because of the recall.
