Well I put in a new Radiator (one from Ford) and the car does not overheat now, the Radiator I purchased is for a V6 not a GT. It's missing 2 inches of cooling fins (thats 48 sq inches of cooling area gone)

I will take it for a drive in the morning, Thanks

I got it from 1800radiator.com

But that was not the problem, I took the car out for a 1hr drive and it over heated, under load the temps rise rapidly.
at idle they temps stay normal so this points to the heads right?

So I guess the problem continues. I will need to pull the heads to make sure they are correct, gasket sealing right, Man I have no Idea what this could be.

did you try pulling the rad cap off and revving it up...see if anything comes out of the coolant?
what head gaskets did you use?

Felpro gaskets

coolant looks fine. I used Ford Gold coolant. I don't see anything oily or smell any gas/oil in the coolant. No white exhaust smoke.

the car has no power, I step on it and it goes nowhere.

Wow... This seems a little more complicated the I originily thought....I'm gonna have to think about this one today. Goodluck in the meantime. Sounds like the engine is putting itself into a safe mode. Does the wrench light come on?

The fan runs all the time over 200 ..

is the fan coming on?

...The Fan is working....

...fans running?...

.. Yes the fan is running and turns on at 190.
....

Come on guys, give him a fucking break. I'm pretty sure that is fan is running.

I think you mis-understood what Willie is asking. He wants to know if you have circulation in the coolant tank.

I want to know if your radiator fan shroud is properly sealed to the radiator, and also the air deflectors around the sides of the radiator (behind your grill) are installed properly. Your driving temps of 200~230 really aren't that bad for the heat of summer. The temps rising when you are at at stop would indicate to me that airflow is not being properly directed over the cooling surfaces of the radiator.

are you sure its timed correctly? if the timing is off it will cause over heating as well as no power. id look at is closely on your way to pulling the heads!

I did not look into the tank while revving the engine, but I had green coolent in the engine before and I put Ford Gold in this last time and I noticed that the green is now mixing in the tank, so I assume the coolant is circulating.

Yes the covers are installed correctly and the shroud is up against the radiator with no visible gaps.

I am pretty sure it's timed right, I paid close attention to this when putting the engine back together.

Are you using a 50/50 water/coolant mix or pure coolant? The latter will cause overheating since coolant can only move 0.7BTU/lb where as pure water will move 1BTU/lb. Pure coolant will also coat the inside of your radiator and make it harder for it to transfer heat as well!

More's Law will get you here!

I don't know how much it will matter but that's suppose to have been at 6 o'clock when you put those on.

He also mentions the car is weak. Overheating and weak are a sure sign of retarded timing.

I was at 6 o'clock, the picture was taken at an angle.

How could I get the timing off? I made sure cyl 1 was at TBC before I put on the chains

here is a shot of the temps after 30 min driving and after 5 second WOT

Top is Coolent Temp 244
Bottom is Head Temp 254
This was with the A/C on it was 102 outside

Are you 100% positive it was at 6 o'clock. Looking at the pickup tube in relation to the timing mark it still looks like 7 to me. 6 would make the timing mark not so in line with the pickup tube.... :/

Yes, after I put the chain on and release the phaser gear because of the tension from the Cams it may have moved to 7 oclock..

Even if it was put on at 7 oclock the timing marks still line up so I don't see how that would cause the timing to be off, I could see it if the chain did not have the dark links as long as the cyl 1 is at TDC and links and marks aline how could it be off?

Here is the timing after I had the cover on.

have you got this fixed yet? hope you get it worked out

I took it to a local Mustang Shop and at the surface they could not find anything wrong, he test drove it and was puzzled.
He is very busy and wants me to schedule some time for next week.

I tried bleading the system again and there is no air in it at all.
Frankly I am tired of this, it's been 2 months this POS has not run and over a year with the bent valve problem and I am just about through with it.. I am very close to throwing in the towel and dumping the car, if it was not for the fact that it's my only car right now I would part it out.

I just don't have the money right now for a new motor, which seems to be the easy way to fix it. this car has stumped all the experts, several shops and three forums their members.:rant::rant::rant:

Ok Sorry, I removed the TSTAT (well cut the spring off and left the outer metal ring and o-ring) and tested it and it still overheats. I bought a new one and replaced it both were 180 Degs.
