Hi all.

I recently had to install a new camshaft drive kit to my motor due to the timing chain tensioner failing. Car was running perfect prior to this issue.

My shop installed the parts as needed but since the fix, the car runs rich constantly.

The only codes to show are p2195 and p2198. Lito my tuner has been more than helpful in helping me figure out whats going on now, but we havent been able to figure it out yet. I checked for vacuum leaks and none seem to exist.
I did small datalogs for Manuel, and he tells me the driver side seems to be the one running really rich.

If anyone has any recommendations on the next possible solutions/steps to help diagnose the issue, please share. Manuel says in his opinion its not a PCM related issue, meaning its likely a mechanical issue.

Injector stuck open, run it and pull the plugs... or maybe unplug an injector at a time and look for the drastic change in trims.

Edit: Cam timing might be another one, good thought. Nothing to really cause my problem.

Being the timing chains were removed are you 100% sure the marks are aligned correct?

thank you for the input guys. I will call the shop that installed it right away and verify. Wouldlnt being improperly timed throw a code? also make idle rough?

eighty6gt, can you explain the process for me which youre telling me to do with the injectors? Sorry im not sure I follow.

Pull one injector plug at a time on the driver's side while logging. If one makes the car much leaner than the others it might be leaking. I've got no experience with this, it's just what I would try.

Sure your PCV system is hooked up correctly?

If he is seeing the driver side running rich based on the front 02 sensor, swap front 02's from bank to bank and log again to rule out an 02 issue.

After reading this post again it sounds exactly the same as my issue this summer albeit with a different code.

I hope this helps.

I figured out the culprit! The negative battery terminal corroded and after replacing it, the car was normal again!

First i did the injector testing as noted above. Nothing out of the ordinary, checked for vacuum leaks for the 3rd time, changed my oil and filter(read somewhere too much oil in the engine can throw p2195 and p2198), then finally decided to replace the ugly corroded negative battery terminal, which turned out to be the problem.

I am very happy it was a simple fix.

I didnt change the o2 sensors yet since they havent come in the mail, but ill hold on to them for the future.

This whole ordeal got my car a fresh unnecessary oil change, brand new battery, brand new alternator, brand new camshaft phaser kit, brand new procharger oil, and a brand new negative battery terminal haha.
