im over this thing. i cant undo the tune. i dont presently have any damage i can see.

maybe Ford will encrypt these PCMs also so this is a dead issue and everyone in SEMA can forget about Fords. the aftermarket can support GM/dodge/etc.

Yes, I know this is the tech forum, and many modders are not worried about voiding their factory warranty, but I just wanted to bring this to the attention of new 5.0 owners who are anxious to mod. Best of luck....

I think the OP was in Japan when the quake hit and just managed to crawl out from under a pile of rubble, went to his computer and opened up several month old e-mails.

This is definitely a tough crowd OP. I know you were simply trying to be helpful, so thx. Doesn't affect me, but interesting nonetheless.

old news, and if you look at this flow chart it is pretty much the way they have always handled these situations

Question, since when did a simple tune or cai start tearing up drivetrains? I could understand and adgree with ford if a owner has installed or uninstalled a n2o kit, or supercharger just to try to get their motor fixed because they blew it up. But really a cai voids your warrenty? DAMN.

What he was trying to say was Ford should lock the PCM so no aftermarket tunes could be loaded into it. Therefore it would do away with the aftermarket tuning that is taking place.

and there will always be someone out there who can unlock it.

Ever since cars started running higher compression ratios. Try leaning out any 400HP 300 cubic inch motor and see what happens. Back in the day, the old fox body 5.0 ran 9.0 to 1 and made 225HP. Now the same size motor is running 11 to 1 (near the ragged edge of detonation on pump gas) and making 412HP. People try to push it just a little bit further and boom! Ford did a pretty good job of squeezing a lot of HP out of a streetable, stock, naturally aspirated, good gas mileage, warrantied engine.
