Think of it as making glass. Now picture regular guides - straight cylinder shape. Now think of air and flow and aerodynamics. Now, take away the cylinder shape...

Hey Mark......it's also called "teardroppping" the guides. Guess it depends on what part of the country you're from. Them thar Yankees up yonder shore do talk funny so I reckon they jis had to come up with some newfangled fancy word since teardroppin' was already bein' used down here.

When you look down into the guide from the valve seat you will see that the guide is shaped like an ordinary light bulb. The other term is teardrop shape. Same thing.

You say tomato, I say tomato, but, yeah - that's exactly it. Truth be told, Teardropping is what I have known them as well and the 'bulb' term was the first time I've heard it from Livernois. I honestly thought for a minute that maybe they had something different but , yeah - seems like just a new coin word...
