Finally have some some info to post here. I got the car back, and been slowly dialing it in. Started on the local 1/8th track at 7.7's, then whittled it down to two 7.55 passes with DA's in the 2200 range (track prep sucks ad OD on wednesday night). This is all on foot brake.

Then yesterday at Cecil, with a DA of 1726, continued to dial in the car. In the 1/4 before, at MIR with a DA of 2200-2300, the car went 11.92. Finally starting to used to the new stall and with foot brake, launching at 2800 (still not launching with significant boost, maybe 1lb).

So the car went [email protected] w/1.65 60ft and then an hour later went [email protected] w/1.64 60ft. I think with better air, and bringing down the 60ft to a 1.5x, I can see a 11.5 or 11.4 pass.

This is at 8.5lbs of boost. Haven t tried the trans brake yet, but that should let me launch with boost. Need to toy around with tire pressure..but leaning towards a set of tokicos all the way around if I cant get it dialed in more by lowering the psi.

Got some data logs of the passes too which should help for future visits as well.

Slip here:

Alright, now where talking. Thats pretty good with only 8.5 lbs of boost and leaving with virtually no boost. I say transbrake and good air you could easily see an 11.40. Must be nice to know that when your ready, you can dial it up so much more to. Dial it up to 16 lbs and turn a 10.20.

Thanks man! Trans brake is next. I wont turn up the boost till I forge the internals this winter. And thanks for your help on the DR's, my faith was always in the MT's, when the 295's went on back order (and they still are), it was your runs on the M&H's with your 60fts that made me want to give them another go.

Hey Man. Numbers are looking a lot better. I know ODS doesn't have the best prep, add no glue and it's tuff to get a good 60'. I'm heading out for T&T so I can try to dial-in a "before tune" base number. If you are interested in meeting us out there, I am pretty sure we are going to have 4 of us out there Wednesday.

Thanks, a lot of it is driver-mod issues.

I should be there wednesday. I did manage a 1.69 and a 1.67 60ft at OD two weeks ago. My best there this past couple of weeks is two 7.55 runs, back to back.

Man, that's fast. With a 7.55 1/8 you're looking at a bit less than a 11.5 in the 1/4.

I can't wait to see what this latest round of mods has done for me. I have to get the Eaton TruTrac and some DR's next or I am not going to get any faster. I lost 3+ 10th's due to the LSD clutches slipping and poor choice in tires. As the clutches died I just watch my time go from 8.3 to 8.7 within weeks just because of traction issues.

Anyway...I'll see you out there...

Yea, not so sure on that. I treat 1/8th mile slips as 1/8th mile slips, and 1/4th mile slips as 1/4th mile slips. I don't believe in the conversions, though it gives you some indication, within 2-3 10ths I guess.

Plus, my car is running a conservative tune, as I don't want to push the ragged edge any more. Yea, you need DR's big time, and get your trutrac in asap.

Sweet!! Glad to see its coming along. Can't wait until you're ready to let 'er rip!

By my database, 7.55 is more like 11.70s.

Congrats Todd on the new personal bests (60' & 1/4 ET). It was great, as always, to see you at the track (plus the beers afterwards). Your car is very impressive, and drew alot of attention amongst some very nice cars.

@Don,

Never put much in the conversions, it always seems 2-3/10ths off, just too many variables IMO. To me, and 8th time is an 8th time, a 1/4 time is a 1/4 time.

@Bill,

Absolutely, and you are doing well, steadily dialing in your new flywheel and clutch. The 28's are the win for your car, stick with those.

And now... 1000' time is a 1000' time.

Yea, don't get me wrong. I see tremendous value in any type of track racing be it 1/8 or 1/4, as I hit the local 1/8th track every week or every other week, and it does give me an idea of what the car will do on the big end of the track.

I recently studied all my slips, as a debate on another site came up about the conversion, which is why I say I don't trust the conversion 100%. But its still good info none the less.

Why would you forge the internals of the 5.4? Aren't they already forged? There are a handful of guys already turning 800 rwhp on the GT500 5.4?

Actually, my 5.4 is a 3v, stock truck motor, stock internals. Forging it is planned for winter, so I can turn up the wick and hunt for low 10's, high 9.s I would be quite happy with a car that can run a 10.0 index.

I'm very happy with it considering its stock block, low boost (8.5lbs) approaching mid 11's just with driver mod (ie me learning it).

Is the 5.4 3V an Aluminum Block or Iron like the GT500 ?
