Do you have any idea how you are going to get your hands on the intake tube from a CJ? I would imagine that you would be able to make your own intake tube using the specs from a CJ tube but idk if that would be legal for the class. DO you have to be 100% CJ from the engine to the rear end to run in the class?

NHRA rules on "air cleaners" is that they are optional or you must retain OEM. They can be cut of trimmed, but no fabrication. A lot of EFI stockers/superstockers just run aftermarket speed density EFI and get rid of the whole thing, just have an open throttle body. I don't want to go that route, so I need to get that plastic elbow somehow, the 123MM MAF housing they do sell already.

You don't have to be 100% front to rear. Any Ford trans with same number of forward speeds, any Ford axle assy. An 8.8 should be quicker than the 9" axle. They do allow a 2 speed auto in place of a 3 speed and vice versa. I think I'm going to start with a PG or as Ford called it in the earlier blown CJs, a "C-2" transmission. A C-4 just isn't the best 3 speed, so I think minimal if any performance difference compared to the right PG, and the PG is going to be far more reliable and easier to hook. I could be totally wrong about that of course, only one way to find out.

Borrowed some parts from wbt tonight, here's the easy solution. Airaid is a 4" tube and they use a reducer coupler to go down to 3.5" for the stock throttle body. So I just replaced that one coupler with a 4" to 5", nothing else needed.

With my setup I have comp cams stage 3, port and polish heads, bumping the compression up to 13:1, e-85, 1 7/8 American racing long tubes, off road x pipe and outlaw AB. So I wonder with the cobra jet what my car would make NA. I wonder if 600 rwhp NA could be a possibility?
600 whp might be a bit beyond reach with a 5.0L and this CJ intake. Ask a real engine builder - they have ways to calculate theoretical hp and torque. I suspect 600 whp would need more cubic inches, or stratospheric RPMs, or lots of compression/cam, or all of those things - if you wanted to stay NA. For that power level I've seen people going with the 6.2L Raptor block/heads and more RPMs, or of course - boost or spray.

We're looking for more power on a relatively stock 5.0L Coyote, and this CJ intake manifold might add some more usable power above 6500 RPM (where our motor peaks with the Coyote intake). This intake is promising, and looks like a boost above the Boss302 intake, which itself loses some lower RPM power over the Coyote.

Curious...

I didn't want to start a new thread but I was wondering, way coupler would be needed to adapt it to a Paxton? I'm running the boss manifold on a 3.6 pulley and am very interest in doing this.

I don't think it will fit with it being an oval inlet. I think it will interfere with the blower

What size is the Paxton piping at the throttle body? A 5" coupler fits these throttle bodies, so you'd just need a reducer coupler in the right size. Throttle body is in exactly the same position as a Boss manifold, that is why these CAIs fit.

Radius was a little over 11". Was that was what I was supposed to measure? Across it was around 3.5".

OK, so you should just need a 3.5" to 5". Not a common item, I saw somewhere that would make a custom size silicone reducer like that but I forget where.

Wait a minute..... I don't think it'll ever fit. Looking at it, the tb as is, is merely centimeters away from the stock tb. The Shelby one is way wider all together..

thats my point. the blower is only 1/4" away from the stock tb. there is no way it will fit....

Well this thread certainly points us N/A guys in the right direction as far as info for the CJ goes... Still going to want to see more dyno pulls, graphs, tuners and builders input, etc. etc. but certainly exciting start.
