While cleaning my car today I noticed that the white vinyl stripe on my hood looked like crap, almost like its stained with dirt. I've tried a bunch of different ways to clean it but its not coming out.

Any ideas on how to get my stripe back to its original color????

Well i just screwed up bad.....I tried using "Purple Power" cleaner which worked, until I went out to my car 15 minutes later and saw that it stained my vinyl a rusty orange color. Needless to say, Im pissed.

Its a stretch but have you tried a water/bleach combo? also, are you working in direct sunlight? Most cleaners in my experience need to be used in shade so they don't dry/bake on the finish.

I did it in the sunlight, probably why it got screwed up. I just took the white off, thinking about going with a matte black stripe on Kona Blue. Thoughts?

Black might look good... I would have to see it though? The Kona is such a deep blue that I wonder if the black stripes would really be noticed?

yeah, thats my only concern. Originally I had the Roush stage 3 stripe on my hood, and Im debating just re-doing it with white. Wish there were more pictures of black on Kona.

Im guessing you guys have tried a claybar and polish already?

And black would look awesome.
So would matte black. You cant wax matte black though.
Use 303 Aerospace protectant on it.

That's what I used on my 06GT with matte black stripes.
Works GREAT

Matte black stripes on black mustangs are no brainer - they look sick. And for Kona Blue, how about doing something different like chrome maybe? Quite frankly, I have not seen one mustang with chrome stripes.

Probably a reason for that
